OMG I love jellied ells

Garden snails aren't actually English/British...the Romans brought them over when they invaded.

A snack often served at the Roman baths..".Milk fed snails"
20 snails
2 pt (1,1L) milk
Anchovy essence
Salt
Oil
1 tbsp red wine

Remove the membranes from the snails to enable them to come out of their shells easier

Put the snails into a pot and cover with the milk

Leave for 2 days. Once an hour take the waste material the snails produce from the milk. (The servants can do this) Change the milk daily

After the seven days, the snails will have absorbed the milk, and they will not be able to get back into their shells (yuuuuk!)

Remove the now fattened snails from their shells and fry in oil
Serve with the anchovy essece and the wine

enjoy ! lol

lol YG funny you should say about wood pidgeon I lost one in the biggest patch nettles today :-(( was not impressed .But please can I have the snake recipe still :-).

i'm fine LG, how are you?
i've got pidgeons nesting in my conifers, they come back every year, they make me laugh, mr pidg, makes his flat twigged perch and waits for mrs pidg to inspect it, last year he went to all the trouble and all she did was fly off.......... :)

i had a sparrow hawk in my garden last year, never ever saw one before, wasn't sure what it was knew it wasn't a kestral, so had to search google, hubby was soooo upset he loves all birds of prey, so gutted it was me he flew and landed next to with a sparrow in his claws............ best sight i've seen, next to baby kestrals learning to fly... ahh bless-em....... :))))) xxx

dont see or hear many owls, we have kingfishers nesting along the river bank... nice :))
