If i find a name and birth ref but am not sure if it's the right person how can i check it out? For example i have a Robert Davies born Birmingham 11 march 1885 but not sure he is my grandad!! And Annie Lowe born Aston ref in bmd is 6c 329,2nd qtr.1864.Whatever that means? do i have to buy cert to see if they are relevant? Alan Davies

I can answer one question. 6c 329 2nd qtr 1864. It means the certificate can be found in volume 6c on page 329, april May or June in 1864.

For the rest, yes you will probably have to get the certificates. There is a site where you can get rid of unwanted certificates...that should tell you how many of us do find ourselves on wild goose chases lol

Well Davies is a very common surname,,I'm a little unsure how you could have a birth date &year,but dont kow if hes your granddad,,?any reasons ?

Your grandads name should if one applies or known be on the mariage certificate of your fatherto your mother and the same will apply to her,
