Bren from Oldham Report 8 Jul 2008 11:46

Theres not much of interest in Oldham it self but the surrounding areas are quite nice and the Saddleworth Villages are worth visiting

You can catch a bus to Uppermill from Oldham st in Manchester Uppermill has some shops a park, a musuem, a canal where on some days there are boat trips
There are quite a few cafes and pubs where you can get a meal

Oldham Mumps is a railway station.

Manchester: great for shopping, great for eating, great for culture, typical city centre.
Oh, and dont miss Canal Street!

Bury outdoor market is the best in Britain- or so the sign says and if you go to Bury get the East Lancs Railway and travel by steam train through the Irwell Valley- beautiful.

The Moors: plenty of walking and all up hill. Get a map of the Rossendale way (45 miles) and give me a wave ~~~~~ on the way past!

Edit: You can get a diner train on the east lancs, here is a sample menu

Red Rose Diner 19:30 Friday 25th July

Duck & Orange Parfait with red onion marmalade & melba toast
Veg. Option - Vegetarian Pate
Celery & Spring Onion Soup
Pork Loin served with apple & apricot noisettes and calvados brandy
(Veg. Option – Deep filled Tomato, Goats Cheese & Basil Tarte)
Served with a selection of seasonal vegetables and potatoes
Individual Strawberry & Kiwi Vacherin
Coffee & After Dinner Mints

£37 per adult

mmmmm sounds delicious

Hello everyone,
just nipping in to say that I deleted all my posts from yesterday. Someone had spelled my name wrong and I adopted it temporarily as my board name. I apologise to anyone who may have been offended by it.
