Due for one tomorrow, starving today. Not looking forward to it as I am told I will have to lie flat and I have trouble breathing when flat. Have told them I may panic , just in case. Wish me luck! Jean

21st July Well, all over! The starving was the hardest, especially trying to get enough sweet liquid to balance the Insulin. Barium enema was so different to the one I had 25yrs ago that it was quite easy. The wind since has been a bit strong but thats all. Now have to wait a week and then make an appoitment to see the specialist.
Jean Durant. Hope you were OK as well. Jean

Hi Jean... I have to have a colonoscopy tomorrow and I am also starving, among other things lol......

I'll be thinking of you up to 2.30 pm when I'm afraid for a little while I will only be thinking of me (((.

Good luck and I am sure we will both survive.

Jean, I know what you mean by 'other things'! OH has to form a queue as we only have one loo! Have to remind myself that it is for my own good, I'd rather have an Endoscopy, which I found interesting. Jean

Hello Jean (Monmouth)
I had one of these a couple of weeks ago, and it was not as bad as I had thought it would be,though I can think of better ways of spending me time. Not too much time spent on the back, rather on either side. However, mine was completely unnecessary, in my mind. I had been rushed in hospital at Easter with severe abdo. pains, and given morphine, and an x-ray. An ultra sound had been ordered, but never carried out. When I saw consultant at out-patients clinic, he realised what had happened and ordered an enema, with the word "enjoy". So, had the enema, and the week after was taken in again with same pains. Same, morphine again, etc,but I did get the scan this time. This showed polyps on the colon, on the left side of body, and gall stones on the right side. Have already got a date for the colonoscopy, 19th August, but must wait a few weeks for the gall stones. If I'd had the scan, I would have had the colonoscopy by the time I went for the enema

Please read the above. It is all the 'stuff' they send you to take beforehand that gets me and the starving, as I am a diet controlled diabetic aswell
Good Luck to you both

I had one years ago (1992, I think) and was dreading it. But when it happened, it was a breeze. I worried over nothing!
Good luck for you two Jeans tomorrow.

Forgive me if my levity is unwonted, but ...

I was looking at TTF for some time, and then flicked over here, and saw a thread entitled

Barium Enema

and clicked, expecting to see

Jean my friend had a barium meal one two weeks ago, and said there was nothing to it. So you will be okay!

I had a colonoscopy last year and it wasn't that bad so you will also be okay Jean.

Will think of you both today xx
