99% of my meals are homemade . Today made a mince pie and a steak pie , froze the rest of the meat for later. Had meat done in slow cooker tonight with cauli and white sauce -homemade , carrots spuds , but frozen Yorkshie as I can`t make them. MIL bought me meat for my birthday from Donald Fraser -gets delivered always lovely -got mince , stewing steak , small roasts this time, |

Lyndi, you shouldn't feel ashamed, we all do whatever fits in with our lives - no need to feel guilty. |

A mix of both, convenience food and fresh. If that mash is on offer, the Delia recommended one, I get some in for the freezer as it is handy if I run out of fresh spuds. I also keep a lot of frozen veg for emergencies or quickness, and freeze lots of things like good quality sausages, and meat that is reduced at the supermarket due to sell by dates being close. |

Hello, Bev. I haven't used frozen mash but have been known to use Smash or whatever it's called, the packet mash. |

I do cook mostly 'from scratch', but do admit to using the occasional packet mix or jar for sauces. |

The suggestion of not cooking from basics ia an anethema to me, and probably many more of my generation. I am closing down now as I am cooking our Sunday evening meal. Barnsley chops with new potatoes, peas, carrots and cauliflower and mint sauce. Apart from the meat, everything off the allotment. fresh this morning. I will admit to using packet 'Smash' as a thickening agent, in soups and stews, all home made, but only because it is 95% fat free. Never loose the art. |
