I have just finished watching the channel 9 news. I feel so sick in the stomach, these poor people, what a horrific way to die.

As the headline news stated;

"Hell's fury has been unleashed on Victoria with at least 84 people killed so far in what has officially become Australia's deadliest bushfires disaster".

and then in the north Queensland people dying due to floods.

Grave fears are held for a five-year-old boy believed to have been taken by a crocodile in north Queensland floodwaters.

A large-scale search was launched after the boy followed his dog into floodwaters at Cape Tribulation at the Daintree on Sunday morning, police said.

He had been walking with his seven-year-old brother at the time.

"He disappeared in the water and his brother saw a large crocodile in the vicinity of his disappearance," a police statement said.

Meanwhile, two people are missing at Silky Oak, south of Tully, after a vehicle carrying seven people tried to drive through floodwaters earlier Sunday morning.

What a terrible weekend so much death and destruction, my prayers go to all the families, I grieve for them. I am absolutely choked with emotion. I cannot comprehend this appalling tragedy.

I had no idea just how bad the fires were until I woke this morning to hear about so many deaths and see appalling scenes of the fires on the television.

My thoughts are with everyone caught up in these horrific events.

To hear that some fires are being deliberately set absolutely beggars belief.

Mick please take care of yourself.

Jean.

Apparently only about 25% of the fires are caused directly by the heatwave. The rest are started by arsonists, or just stupid people. One car has just been seen in the area, the passenger threw a lit cigarette out of the window! Incredible.

The Bunyip fires have been re-started several times by firebugs as they call them. They haven't caught any and don't know the identities of them but they know its happening.

One has been arrested in New South Wales in their fires, which are at the moment getting worse.

I'm hoping GR will give me permission to put the address of the Austalian Red Cross appeal site to donate a little cash to help. Its about 2 Aussie dollars to the pound.

Failing that, google it, you'll soon find it

Mick, Hope you and your family are safe.

Have just realised how close my cousin is to the fires.

Hope her, her family, and all their neighbours are safe, and
pray the death toll doesn't rise.

Having once seen a heath fire spread many miles in a short time, I know exactly how horrifying this can be. My admiration is for the firefighters and all their hard work. How disheartening for them when they cannot save somone. Think of the frightened animals who have no escape. We can only wish a swift end for all.

YES JEAN. THE FIREFIGHTERS PUT THEIR LIVES AT RISK TRYING TO SAVE PEOPLE, THEIR HOMES, AND THE WILDLIFE.

ALL BECAUSE OF SOME IDIOTS WHO THINK IT'S FUNNY TO START A FIRE.
