Hi BC, no there has not been a slow cooker thread. as Jean says we could start one. Mine, I think, came from Lakeland, it is for two people, the smallest you can get and we love it, so easy to put the meat in in the morning and it is cooked in the evening when you want it and always so tender. I will put up a thread shall I?

Oven cooked salmon in ginger, lemon juice and teriyaki sauce, green beans ,broad beans and baked spud.

I like the sound of the slow cooker method. Has there been a thread about them and any recommendations? Cheers.... BCXX

Very good value:o)

Our neighbours 3 of them work there (one just left). One says they use the best meats etc, McCanns chips, its not rubbish food. Real cod and plaice, he's surprised how cheap they are able to keep the prces at, but they must have a good deal going:o) It was packed today, tis most saturdays.

Maybe your sense of smell will adjust Daff.

Susan, thank you, I actually put my slow cooker on about 09.30 and serve it at 7pm, cooked on low.

Sausage casserole... I tend to tweak it a bit.... we had the Chinese pork yesterday, by the way, and it was scrummy....

Casserole has tomatoes, and two cox's pippins cut into it as well as some paprika and turmeric...... leek, carrots, peppers, courgette and carrots..... creamy mashed potato with cheese (red leicester, my favourite) and parsley flavoured dumplings..... might grate a bit of cheese into those, too... I want the dumplings, hubby and son want the potato.

There are two yoghurts left to be eaten... they'll go in the bin tomorrow if they aren't.

I have to say that my sense of smell is coming back, and as a result.... a lot of my favourite foods smell dreadful, and I am beginning not to be able to eat them... the swede smelt dreadful..... so do mushrooms, oranges, lemon, cabbage, cauli and white bread... my nut and seed bread is ok at the moment.... ginger is awful too... and so was the strawberry jam, branston pickle, and piccallili. Until last week I couldn't smell them at all. They smell musty and earthy... and taste the same. But Stilton and Gorgonzola do not smell at all.... and I am enjoying them!! I hated them before.

I can see some very weird dishes being served up in the Daff household!

Love

Daff xxxx

I cook them on low.
I have never thought about it. I put my slow cooker on at lunch time and just let it cook and then about 5-15 i put in the dumplings and dish (sorry serve) up about 6.

Liver and onions, baby potatoes, sprouts and peas here followed by whatever I can find - probably cheescake from the freezer.

Tonight we have devilled lambs kidneys with stir fry veg and rice. I know a lot of people don't like offal but we do and it is good for you, and what is more the kidneys for the two of us for the meal cost £1.21, can't get a meal much cheaper than that!!
