Have you tried going to start and to your control panel and looking at your mouse's properties -

This gives you left and right pointer options and activities etc (not sure about ball cleaning) maybe one of its attributes fell off.

Where I worked I was the bain of the IT person's life as I always went and checked for myself instead of going through appropriate channels. I think he believed women couldn't do these things.

See Carole - I can be very serious at times.

Hi Rose,

I cant remember if we've spoken, I'm Carole from Aus:-))

Ive had the same thing happen to me - with my cursor running all over the place and only on this site!!!
Ive never worked out what it was. (comp dumbo) I even replaced my mouse - thinking it was that???

I now have a lap top, so don't have the problem any more:-))

Sorry I'm no help, but I thought I'd let you know you are not the only one to experience this.

I hope you get it sorted out:-)

My mouse is cordless and works fine except when I click on 'Favourites'. The cursor then takes off by itself and runs up and down the list a few times until it eventually stops - then I can move it to where I want it to go and it stays still.
I've just read through all the suggestions on these pages and I've tried every one of them in the past and nothing fixes it. I just have to be patient! It never does it anywhere else.

Sorry. Can't stop laughing.

Rose, please leave the mouse's (sp?!!) ball alone.

No wonder it is all over the place!!

Sorry, if I have lowered the tone maybe I should leave the wine alone. xx

I don't really want to say this, but,
Has your mouse got a ball?

Perhaps you need to clean your mouse ball, and the little rolly bits inside the mouse.
Turn it upside down, open it - the arrows show the way - remove the ball.
Around where the ball was are other rolly bits.
Cack gathers on these, clean with something sharp like a fingernail or tweezers. Then turn the right way up to remove dislodged cack, and give a (dry) blow for luck.
If you have cats, look for a stray hair.
Give the mouse back it's ball. Do it up (opposite way to the arrows) and try again . If it still wanders - your ball is knackered.
