A fleet of lorries is due to leave a depot in Cheshire loaded with emergency supplies of salt for hard-pressed councils as the cold spell continues.

I"m quite concerned about you lot over there. Great Britian looks like it will snap in two - (that is the aerial view looks like a frozen solid biscuit)
There are going to be a few floods when it all thaws.

She says - been out playing in the sun today - had a lovely outing - and just had our dinner.

Too cold in Britain and too hot in Oz - but NZ is like baby bear's porridge at the moment - just right.

How do you manage to survive??? We whinge and complain if it gets down to 4C, without the snow, ice and blizzards.

And now we are wishing the temperature would take a dive to somewhere near that mark. A week above 35C is just too hot for comfort. I must have invoked the wrath of the weather gremlins when I announced I was really looking forward to summer.

It looks really odd round our house - the back gets most of the sun so the ice is dripping off the plants and things but the front is in the shade so it's like an ice rink.

Our cat - who is possibly mad! - just went for a roll in the snow. I think she's given up on ever seeing earth again!
