Started to snow here in Cumbernauld (just outside Glasgow) again.....just after it had started to thaw!!!

My sister came over last year with her friend who had never been outside Australia.....it managed one day of snow for her.....kicking herself that she did not leave it to this year...lol

Deb Vancouver (18665) Report 11 Jan 2010 22:42

We could do with some snow here. We have record HIGH temperatutes 12c, along with heavy rain and wind.

I few feet will help, seeing as the Winter Olympics start February 12th!

A lot of pavements and roads are cracked and slabs including ours are all raised up.
Its going to cost a lot of money for it all to be repaired.

Well thank you for sharing that gem of musical discordance with me. I will retire for the night with my brain struggling to analyse yet another quaint northern hemisphere custom.

Hmmm I think I'll stick with Alice's Restaurant!!

Oh dear that post reads rather inappropriately at this particular place in the thread. I refer to the consumption of yellow snow.

No.1 was telling me to share ancient wisdom with you about about the risk of water pipes freezing -- falling snow is something else to warn about.

Where I am, people are actually killed from time to time when snow loads fall off roofs (or sheet ice flies off vehicle roofs on highways). One year a baby was killed when a snow load fell where his father was holding him, waiting for a bus, and a woman was killed as she was walking up the walk to her apartment building.

Seriously, do watch out for falling snow and ice.

MarionfromScotland

MarionfromScotland Report 11 Jan 2010 12:51

How many lorry loads do you need?
Our council are having to scoop it up and dump it as it's just not going.
It's +5 today as to -16 last week.

There is a thaw today so some is starting to go, Including it sliding off the roofs. We got to watch our heads lol

dont eat the yellow snow lyrics

Eating snow is what children in the frozen North do to amuse themselves for several months a year. ;) Their parents live in horror they'll eat the yellow stuff.

I am not one to admit to having knowledge of a subject under discussion when I know dang blammed nowt about it.

Yellow snow!!!

Once upon a time I would have reached for the encyclopaedia, remember them.

But now google, google, google.

Of course, other than coming to the conclusion that Janey has either herds of puppies all relieving themselves on her pavement, or true blue Aussie wattle trees with their bright yellow flowers, giving her snow that yellowish tinge, I must quite truthfully admit to finding it difficult to know which yellow snow subject to choose to enhance my learning curve!!!

JaneyCanuck Report 11 Jan 2010 11:07

Well if you're going to be eating yellow snow, you will certainly want salt. ;)

Stop whining, AuntyS. Do feel free to bring the poor pooch to visit the yellow snow. Lots of it decorating the giant piles in front of my house.

Oh Ha! It is 9.15 pm here and still 37 degrees C. And that's 98.6 for you F type people.

Wind has just increased in strength. May be the start of our cool change.
