Bye now you will all most likely know that I adore living by the sea. and not because I can swim in it because I cannot swim!! but there is a great pull for me to be able to see the sea and when I found this poem earlier today I was not sure whether to post it or not. But, OH and I although in our sixties are sill very much in love and love each other in every way and every day., We are far from sloppy and would never embarrass anyone but I felt as I read this that it was special and so I am posting it before I change my mind!!

The Sea.

The sea, the sea: calling out to you and me
Waves rush in to caress the sand
Only to roll out again

The sea, the sea: calmness in its water
But in one fowl swoop
The calm has turned sour

The sea, the sea: breezes clear as day
Salty air meets our lips
Longer, will we stay?

The sea, the sea: soft sand beneath our feet
Breeze cooling our hot hands
One look at your eyes and I Know

The sea, the sea: our ally and friend
The seascape drawing us in
In triumph, two sweethearts together
Creating Minstrels in the sand.

Lillian B. Rose.

Another favourite.

"I wish I could remember that first day"

by Christina Rossetti

I wish I could remember that first day,
First hour, first moment of your meeting me,
If bright or dim the season, it might be
Summer or Winter for aught I can say;
So unrecorded did it slip away,
So blind was I to see and to foresee,
So dull to mark the budding of my tree
That would not blossom yet for many a May.
If only I could recollect it, such
A day of days! I let it come and go
As traceless as a thaw of bygone snow;
It seemed to mean so little, meant so much;
If only now I could recall that touch
First touch of hand in hand – Did one but know!

So poignant.

The basic thing is that everyone wants happiness, no one wants suffering. And happiness mainly comes from our own attitude, rather than from external factors. If your own mental attitude is correct, even if you remain in a hostile atmosphere, you feel happy.

- Tenzin Gyatso, 14th Dalai Lama

Those were both lovely Spanish Eyes..love is all around us, I wouldn't swop my man for anybody. He took on me, a widow, with 2 teenages nearly 19years ago, and has been the rock of our lives. I shall be so proud when he takes our daughter (for she is his, she has known him longer than her late dad) down the aisle this summer. Its true what they say you do nt have to have the biological link, anyone can do that, it takes a real man to be a real dad..........We're in our sixties too and love still blooms

Thank you for your delightful reply, Isn't it a pleasant change to read how content / happy people are in their marriage. I have been married twice and would never decry my first husband, we simply grew away from each other in a determination to improve the standard of life we had as children. I will never say that we do not still love each other because we do and on occasions friends and family have commented on this, but living together would not work for us or our children. So I feel twice blessed and know how lucky I am. Next month when my son has a blessing of his marriage which is formal Army style OH will b
e treated in just the same way as his natural father and nobody will be upset or angry, annoyed etc..

We look forward to hearing abut the wedding plans, the big day etc.
Thank you also for your remark about the poems.

Linda, I will copy this into one of my books, it says so much and each time I read it, I learn something else.

I will post my choices either this afternoon or tomorrow morning. I hope that most people will join in this bit of fun.
Today the weather is beautiful, and the sun is shining ,there is a very slight breeze and the sea is blue and calm. Today we had a visitor, a relative of one of the ladies I cared for when I was last working. He had asked for my address some time before I left the UK and was delighted when he called a few days ago to ask if he could drop bye to say hello.

Hope everyone is well

Green fingers, you made me laugh out loud...oh so right.

I wonder if this has now come to an end, what do you think. If so any ideas as to what could be next as I feel that there are a small group of us who would stay in touch

I have to go out now but will be back this evening or tomorrow.

Have a good day everyone

I have just found this called 'Pippa's Song', which I would like to share with you:

The year's at Spring,
The day's at the morn,
Morning's at seven;
The hill-side's dew-pearl'd;
The Lark's on the wing;
The snail's on the thorn;
God's in his heaven-
All's right with the world.
