Julie,

Very sorry to hear your news but take heart.

In 1976 my daughter then aged 6 was diagnosed with cancer of the kidney (Wilms tumour) which had unfortunately spread. She had surgery to remove the kidney, her spleen and part of her diaphragm. This was followed by both Radio and Chemo therapy. The prognosis was not good and we were told to take each day as it came. She went on to have two daughters of her own and last year one of them made her a grandmother and me a great grandfather.

Cancer is a formidable opponent but it does not always win.

Stay strong.

Good luck <3

Sorry Julie...

It must be very stressful & confusing for you, but hang on in there Radiation & Chemo can and does work........

Just make sure you rest with meds for any pain that you may get, easy said than done I know , but the the chosen Staff at Hospital do work wonders, I've been there like you have before......

Thinking about you ......keep yer chin up !!

PatinCyprus

PatinCyprus Report 23 Apr 2012 17:03

My cousin had a show of blood and went straight to the docs. She had always had her smears.

Within days she had a scan and was told she had a very fast and aggressive cancer that was already in 4 places. The local docs said they couldn't save her but had asked the area's top guy to see her. She was told by the top guy it would be very hard and no promises.

She endured many hours chemo and radio therapy and almost gave up. Her partner Dave promised her the holiday she had always wanted across Canada on a train.

All treatment completed, told the tumours were reducing she went to Canada. Came back had her 1st check up no cancer.

Always a happy person she got her smile back. From small, my children nicknamed her Smiler. She told everyone she was going to beat cancer. She said others had why couldn't she.

On her last check up, late last year, the top guy admitted he feared he'd kill her with the regime he did for her. Instead he told her she had just done her 5 years clear and although he still wants to see her annually because of how aggressive it was, she's done it.

She is clear and should have a normal life span, she beat it, be possitive, it's a foe beat it. She sat on the floor sobbing at times but she had people wishing her well and helping her. Your family, friends and all here are with you.

Laugh that's the best medicine.

Pat
