Scozz Report 5 May 2012 09:48

my great granny used to read tea leaves. I was 6 when she died, I only have vague memories of her.

She didn't pass on her tea-leaf reading ability to me........ but I'm sure I have some of her other "skills".

I wonder if I could see anything in coffee grounds? Arrrgh, I couldn't stand drinking coffee with grit in it. Barrrrrrrrf.

lol Fiona :-D My Mum got out of the habit of "Scottish tea" many years ago. Changed to very weak tea, a drop of milk and a few grains of sugar. I called it dirty water.

She absolutedly detested my coffee.....and when she visited us, she made her own tea!

A Chinese man gave me some tea years ago, I had to force myself to drink it to be polite (losing face and all that). To my great surprise, I loved it, so refreshing on a hot & humid day. I haven't been able to find any - Chrysanthemum tea. I've tried other herbal teas, but don't like them.

I used to work in a big office, twice a day the Tea Lady rolled the trolley around. One big urn with hot water & one with tea. I waited until everybody got their tea before I went near it. Stinky!

LOL @ Harry :-D

My mums aunt used to 'read' the tea leaves. Us kids preferred the Beano.

Harry

Harry Report 4 May 2012 14:57

I went for a piddle in the sink, but some dirty devil had emptied tea leaves in there.

I had an aunt who could tell your fortune from tea leaves - or so she claimed.

Happy days

Sharron Report 4 May 2012 14:49

Always loose tea.Used to be PG, now prefer Yorkshire.

Warm the pot, freshly boiled water.Strong,no sugar. We have semi-skimmed milk because the vet said that was what the cat had to have and now I don't like full-cream in my tea.

I don't like tea-bags but do have some Oolong bags.

Beside me I have a cup of black Ceylon with some lemon in it because I found the bag in the cupboard.

Merlin Report 4 May 2012 14:22

LollyWithSprinklez Report 4 May 2012 13:36

Hate tea can't bear the smell even, think it was discovering gritty tea leaves like sand at the bottom of the cup when a child, put me off for life......!!

OH drinks it from morn to eve, tea bag in cup boiling water no sugar, cover and leave to stand for 5....10 mins UGH...!!

His mugs get so stained I'm surprised he even needs a tea bag.
The only way to clean them is soaking in washing soda.

It's coffee for me :-D

Janet

Janet Report 4 May 2012 12:07

I have Earl Grey. I still get comments from my offspring because I want my tea 'golden' before the milk goes in. One level spoonful of sugar. My daughter and her dad like their tea like 'sludge' and no sugar, so I have always to have two lots of tea in when they visit. .......Still not as bad as that loose tea we had to drink as children-jl

Fiona

Fiona Report 4 May 2012 11:55

I used to drink tea , weak with milk ,2 sugars Sorry Scozz, mother WAS scottish. lol :-D
but until about 10 years ago, then I was ill and went right off it, also my OH & MIL drink tea all the time but it's so strong the smell is awful, I now drink Herbal tea, manily Rosehip or fruit berries, much lighter and refresher.

Scozz

Scozz Report 4 May 2012 11:41

lol Carol - I think we're related

I drink my coffee strong, black & no sugar! Commando style.

I always warn people who visit us........ the coffee is STRONG! I think you could stand a spoon up in it.

I have memories of being given "standard Scottish Tea" as a child - very milky with 2 sugars, and hating it.... and being told "drink it, it's good for you". Like every child, if I heard "it's good for you" I knew I wasn't going to like it :-D
