Trying to find more about my Grandfather Alfred Hayden b.1881 Rowley Regis, Staffordshire d.1968 married to Clara Lester 1903. Can't find any trace on 1891,1901 or 1911 census. Would like to find siblings and confirm when his father was born.

Do you have the marriage cert with fathers details? if not then you will need the cert to confirm fathers details
But the birth Lesley has posted is a possibility because their is a link between the Haden family and Rowley Regis

Pit sinker must have been very well paid and extremely dangerous work.

Sorry about typos in last hurried missive. Hopefully you can understand what I thought I had put.
Cannot find William (7) of Alfred Henry (9) n C1891. They may be with grandfather - haven't checked.
Grandfather was Elijah born 1825 Tardebigge (wife Ann) who was still alive, aged 66, in Oldbury in C1891. Several children - including Walter 1848 and Francis John 1870.

Martin, We need the info from the marriage cert in order to search for him with his family
fathers name and occupation plus names of witnesses would be great
without some facts to go on then anything found would be pure speculation
You say he was BORN Rowley Regis 1881
What documentary evidence do you have to support that as a fact?
It could be that his family came from their ? but he filled in the census form in 1911 and he stated that he was born Oldbury

Remember visiting Rowley Regis. Huge parish. I was looking for a hamlet called Slack Hillock. It was one of those canal viillages like California. A pub and a few houses near one of those "legging" tunnels. I think canals msut have been as busy as the M6 in those days.
Slack Hillock's pub is now called the Sportsmans Arms. And there is another hamlet in Rowley parish called Haden Hill :-)
But Tardebigg is a beautiful church and village, Martin. What a place for your family to have come from (possibly).

Have got father of your Alfred Henry as Walter born 1848 Tardebigg - variously a farm bailiff and a pit sinker and latterly an undergound hewer.
Walter was son of Elijah born 1823 Tardebigg and bt 4 Jan 1824 at St Bartholemew, that lovely parish chuch on the hill in Tardebigg that you can see for miles and miles. Parents John and Elizabeth.
Elijah not at home in C1841 but this will be parents at Banks Green Farm, Webheath, Tardebigg, Worcs: John HADEN, 55, farmer, not born in county of Worcs Elizabeth, 50 Sarah, 15 Thomas, 13 Henry, 5 All born Worcs apart from father John
Marriage of John HADEN seems to be at St Barts in Tardebigg on 31 Dec 1810. To Elizabeth DUNN So there may be older children than Elijah. But probably all on Tardebigg registers.
