Both Ann's put me to shame and I am with Julia

Just read a piece in a letters page about a chap buying a stamp in the p.office.
Remarking on the new price might prevent people from sending so many xmas cards was told that if he was on benefits he could buy them at last years rates.

Apparently he was disgusted

Any thoughts ???

AnninGlos

AnninGlos Report 7 Nov 2012 17:32

I think anyone on benefits can buy 36 second class at the special price. This happened last year too.

I have the majority of the stamps I need for mine. I bought them before they went up last time so have mine at last year's rate too.

BarbinSGlos

BarbinSGlos Report 7 Nov 2012 17:42

Yes I bought enough before the price rise and unfortunately some of the friends I sent cards to have passed away in the last year.

The local family and friends I hand deliver anyway.

Not forgetting that several cards sent during the year never got delivered anyway.

I have a pile for the scouts delivery, another for Royal Mail, another pile for hand delivery and one for Australia

I too bought my 2nd class stamps for my christmas cards before the price rise, I've yet to write my cards, well done on you AnnCardiff, In October I had a phone call from a friend telling me she'd written her cards in September. (and if I wanted my card, I'm to go and collect it - she lives 10 miles away)!

I'm very impressed by your organisational skills.

Crikey!!!!

Now.......................I bought 3 boxes of Christmas cards in January, and have put them somewhere safe.

My husband is disgusted that our local town has already put up its Christmas decorations. He doesn't think Christmas should be mentioned until the beginning of December and gets really angry about it but I don't write many cards - he does - I just do a few to my friends.

Went past a house last night and in the 2 front windows were lit up Christmas trees. The outside of the house was covered in lights
I wonder how long after Christmas they will stay up covered in dust!

My s.i.l. does all of hers when she takes her Chrismas cards down.

She sits at the table with all the cards in front of her and writes out cards to all her friends. Puts them back in the box ready for next Christmas

THe only ones she does not write out are her sons' (his is disabled and his friends can change from year to year depending on where he goes to day classes).

And she buys stamps throughout the year.
--------
Me I buy my cards after Christmas when they are half price. Will be doing them either this weekend or next.
Most pressies bought.
