The old man has his cataract operation tomorrow.

Anything he does has to be organized in detail and I have every point covered,carers organized,transport, blood test,his mate.

I remember ringing the surgery and asking the receptionist to alter the date of his Warfarin blood test for today.

At a quarter past five I found out that the nurse has not been to do it.

Well,I just hope they do the operation tomorrow.

They maybe are able to rush a test at the hospital tomorrow if you mention it,


Hope it goes alright for him,,,,,,,,,he will be eyeing up all the young nurses by teatime and he wont want to go home....... :-D :-D

I have also been called bu patient transport to ask me how long the operation would take.

Was I the person to ask I wonder?

Dad had appointment with consultant at Hospital nearest Nursing Home ..
I go to Nursing home, then we load him into transport , all the wheel chair safety cogs and attachments. We then un cog him and I push him in. (Have to phone the home for pick up after the appointment) Charged for this by the way
get to see consultant who wants to examine him. I point out they will need a standing hoist , they go off to find one and stick us in a side room ..
30 mins later they come back , Dad is nodding off , so hoist him up , trousers down , examined and done.
No .. then the senior consultant decides he also wants a look. By this time the hoist has gone awol , so another 30 min wait and poor old Dad is hoisted again , trousers down again
The Senior Consultant is Chinese .. Dad has Vascular Dementia. Dad fought in Burma during WW2 and all hell is let loose when this person tries to examine him !
Finally get out of the consultants room , red in the face, one irate Dad and phone the home to pick us up , all the while listening to my Dad giving me loads of grief in his own language
Dad was not being racial , he just has vascular dementia and other problems from a major stroke, he cannot talk , all his words are mixed up and make no sense ,he was tired and confused
My Mum takes another medication , not Warfarin, because of her stroke ,Warfarin would be impossible to monitor iproperly as she lives alone.
They should be able to do the test when he arrives for the OP , give them a call first thing in the morning.

He is downstairs sleeping peacefully.Happy in the knowledge that he doesn't have to any organizing himself.

We have been through the making sure his mate will be here in time for the ambulance performance.

Of course I have tomorrow to cme where he is busy being looked after and I am at home worrying about what is going on.

I hope all goes well and smoothly tomorrow for your dad..... and you.

I have nearly finished the jar pickled shallots I made from the ones given to me by the lovely Lavender.

I am not so very concerned about the procedure. They do it all the time I know.

It has been so involved to organize and I have done all of my bit of fiddle with it. I am just concerned that the operation won't take place because the blood test,which I booked, has not taken place.

Then I will have to organize it all again and the old man will be very unhappy and I have to live with him!

The nurse came in just after eight this morning and took his blood.

Relief!
