Thank heaven for vouchers! Apart from the youngest children, who, understandably love presents to open, they are a safe but acceptable option. I love to receive them myself, especially book tokens - nothing like a good long browse in a bookshop!
Yes, it's a cop out, but saves sanity!

Well have started wrapping this afternoon....hurrah! A lot go down to Swansea so have them sorted now and parcelled up.

Geordie, my OH is a workaholic....and I am trying to get him to slow down a bit! so most of the shopping is done by myself.....I also agonise over every present I think they may like.....that's what takes me so long to get sorted! :-(

I used to get terribly stressed over the whole Christmas business, but as I've got older, I've learned to cope much better. Commercial pressure has a lot to answer for.
I now actually enjoy the lead up; getting ahead takes the heat out of things. I've written and posted all the cards, my old Dad's also, and bought nearly all the presents, though I always agonise over what people would like!
Now my husband is retired, he shares all the preparations, which makes it more enjoyable, and now we have time to spare before the big day, we have lots of outings planned.
However, I do still look forward to January! Quiet shops and planning the next holiday!

I think the key word for me is I "Avoided" it until the last minute which made everything so much more hectic. It is amazing how everthing seems to come together in the end..............

Hello Paula

You sound very organised indeed, I seem to be running in circles at the moment! Have bought some pressies but no wrapping as yet, but as you say it all comes together in the end. I seemed more organised when I did work....trying to work that one out!

I must admit that Christmas for me used to be all rush, and fuss with lots of work and never enough time. I love giviing presents but hated shopping for them when the shops were packed . I always avoided buying Christmas presents early, possibly because I was too busy doing other things. I did not enjoy the build up, but always loved it when the time came,. Miraculously, somehow I was always organised at the last minute. However this year is the first Christmas I have not been working full time, so I am well ahead, I have brought and wrapped almost all of the presents, and done some food shopping. I am actually enjoying it. Bring it on! ;-)

Hello Scozz,

Sounds like a relaxing Xmas to me....I am jealous!

It's only me & OH......... family all live either interstate or in other countries.

I've got bits & pieces for OH (he'll get his own pressie, golf shoes!). The only other person we buy a gift for is OH's mother........ and the shop I want to go to is having a sale starting this Saturday... I'll go on Monday morning.

We have our Christmas dinner & exchange pressies on Christmas Eve, and spend Christmas Day grazing and lazing around.

If we're feeling energetic we might go for a walk on the beach :-D We'll go to the section where dogs are allowed...... might see Sandy Claws. :-D :-D

Freezing tonight and a full moon. Have had terrible weather over weekend rain and gales. Flooding in a lot of the country....St Asaph about 30mins away had it really bad with the river banks bursting and flooding 5ft deep....900 homes there.....really shocking stuff to watch....poor people...a lot not insured!

Dry for next few days.....then heavy rain again for the new week. Daily Mail saying this is going to be a hard winter with temps -20 dec/jan......hope they are wrong. Off to bed now as OH will have warmed it up!

Watch out for Jaws!

Yes Ann for sure......she loves Xmas here. When I suggested she may like to go to In Laws for a change and come here Boxing Day instead...she was horrified at the thought.....good job her hubby enjoys my cooking!

Not sure if my mum ever had the thought....she truly loved all things Xmas and would be on the phone in September asking us what pressie we fancied that year!
