Yes Roy, that is why Genes recommended that Compatibility View should not be used if you have IE9 but as I understand it anyone with Windows XP cannot have IE9.

Roy ~ I worked out the compatability thing for what I needed at the time ~ one gives me my tree, the other gives me the emoticons.

The words under Quick Search are in a colour (looks like baby-poo-brown to me) that gets lost on the green background.

I just changed the compatability (I now have NO emoticons) but can now read "Single word search" under Quick Search.

I use loads of websites. This is the ONLY one that requires changing of the compatability.

I just changed back to "compatability" so that I can give a BIG :-P

Ken, I'm on windows 7 using IE 9 and i get the compatibility icon, If i switch to compatibility view then the "Single word search" is not visible and appears as a shadow and is blurred "out of place menu" also text at the bottom of the page below the emoticons also looks blurred

Isn't the problem that many members have Windows XP which can't support the modern browser versions?

I think most display problems on GR seem to be experienced by XP users.

When i posted above about "compatibility view" this may help you to understand

Compatibility View

Sometimes the website you’re visiting doesn't look right. It shows up as a jumble of out-of-place menus, images, and text boxes. What's going on? One possible explanation: The site might have been designed for an earlier version of Internet Explorer. If Internet Explorer recognizes that the webpage isn't compatible, you'll see the Compatibility View button on the Address bar. Try clicking it.

In Compatibility View, websites will be displayed as if you were viewing them in a previous version of Internet Explorer, which will often correct display problems. You don’t need to click the button for a site after you’ve done it once—the next time you visit the site, Internet Explorer 9 will automatically show it in Compatibility View. (If you ever want to go back to browsing with Internet Explorer 9 on that site, just click the Compatibility View button again

Remember the problem members had when their Emoticons disappeared?

Scozz, I thought you said that you worked the "compatibility view" thing out months ago

I didn't know there were ANY words there until you posted.

When I press my nose on the screen & squint, I can see a brown blobby thing. Does that read "single word search" ??

No wonder I had problems lol :-D

Single word search.

It very difficult to see, that's why some people try to seach using more than one word.

Does anybody test these pages to see what they look like ?
