yeah ok a 100% is a bt much of a raise n one go, but in the grand scheme of things its still a bargain, and its not like there asking for £15 or £20 a month, its for a year,

Stray, "i think its a good idea to put everyone at the same price" I totally agree BUT they don't have to double the price in a single increase

Whats wrong with them lowering the price for those paying the most and have a small price rise for others that would also achieve help bring the cost for everyone to the same price, I have said how i think this is not fair on the other thread and don't want to repeat myself on this one

Maybe it would have been acceptable if the increase was phased in in two stages, but 100% is a bit much.

StrayKitten Report 20 Dec 2012 21:25

without being shot down, i think its a good idea to put everyone at the same price,

i know long standing members get a discount, but as iv been here 6 yr, and pay double what others, pay i think its fair to take everyone to the same prce,

after all surely im a long standing member now, why should i pay double everyone else???

however i thnk we should have been informed of the changes, before our renewal notice,

and less than 2 quid, is a small price to pay for the help, support and fun we have surely? is it not??

i pay more for my papers a week :-D

Thank you for drawing it to our attention Ann - I echo Mildred's words - What a flaming liberty!!!!

I think GR need to have a reality check!

that renewal annual price is only if you pay within so many days, it is the discounted price, other wise it is 20% more. that represents a 100% price rise for me so this time I shall be thinking hard whether I need to renew.

Estelle has just responded on the other Board.

The current renewal sub price is £15.96 per annum

They have removed the discount we had for continuous membership

Same as Liz I mainly come on here for the chat section as havnt had time to do 'my family' just lately but I did have a problem when I renewed this year as I had previously been a fully paid up member and am now only a standard member I had to pay the now going rate rate which was I think about £12.Have been a member for a long time so was a bit miffed to say the least. :-(

I agree Joy,very good value, but surely we should be given the same consideration
as we are long time members.

Wendy

Wendy Report 19 Dec 2012 22:09

have just emailed Gr after reading that some of you long term members are only paying 9.95.

wendy(lincs)

AnninGlos

AnninGlos Report 19 Dec 2012 22:06

But surely at that price you can't search for relies, you have to pay more to do that.

Wendy

Wendy Report 19 Dec 2012 21:53

I recently emailed GR to query the increase mine is due 24th dec.i paid the increase because they said the rise was due to add ons to the site ,and was told it works out at £1.33 a month, which when you think about it is good ,where else could you have fun support people search for rellies etc..Laugh ,cry , moan. swap recipes cratf family stuff.
so think about it peeps,ITS THE CHEAPEST PLACE ON THE INTERNET :-D

Just put this on the other thread but will add here too:

I am due to renew in Feb, have been a continuous member since 2005 and have recently paid £9.95 I think it was, for a year's membership. It's a bit of a pain if we are to be charged more, half the 'improvements' we haven't asked for and have seemed to me to be unnecessary, so it annoys me that we have to pay extra for someone to keep fiddling around with things. I don't do much on my tree at the mo as can't get my head round it all, too much else going on so I just use General Chat for light relief and to keep in touch with people I have come to know over the years.

In these days of economic difficulty it seems a shame to up the charges, and maybe lose more old time members especially.

Sign of the times I suppose!

thanks for that link - this was also on that posting

From the Subscriptions and renewals section in the FAQ under the Help tab at the top of this page

How much does it cost to renew?

Renew your subscription from 2 weeks before or up to 4 weeks after your renewal date, and you’ll only pay the original price of your subscription package. And if you choose continuous renewal, you’ll keep paying the original price. But if you renew your annual subscription anytime from 4 weeks past your renewal date, you’ll pay our current prices.
