Moonnbi and others on here in Oz, stay safe and know that we are thinking of you. It must be horrible to have the fires so near and just have to play a waiting game. <3

Just seen the Astronaut pictures from space of the path of these fires.
Still seem to be a threat in some parts of Oz.
Hope things get better and you have a terrific rain storm....don't usually wish that on anyone!
Apparently it poured in Sydney on Christmas Day.!

It did rain in Sydney and down our way on Christmas Day and we were wearing cardigans :-0

The fires are slowly being contained but there are still some burning out of control. In bushland this isn't a bad thing and is needed for the bush to regenerate but it's homes and farmlands that are in danger.

Unfortunately we are expecting high temperatures again by the weekend :-(

Mother nature has her knickers in a twist here in NZ today, two tornadoes & flash flood warning (now abated) for the south island and scrub fire on the outskirts of Christchurch that has claimed four houses so far.

Oh dear,not more fires.
We seem to hear about more disasters than we used to.Maybe it's because we get the news quicker?
Just hope everyone is safe wherever you are.

Thinking of everyone in Australia and NZ.....keep safe!!

l saw on the news yesterday the family of 5 children in the sea with their g/parents to escape the fire, but because of the smoke they still had little oxygen. Very lucky to be alive!!

Hope Susan in NZ is safe??

Just heard from my friend in Melbourne that the bush fires are still raging in S E Australia.Still thinking of them and hope that it doesn't get hotter again and the wind drops.

Much cooler day today.

27C here on the border nsw/vic
cloudy and a few rare spits of rain. \ very slight breeze

A lot less smoke in the air. so I dont know where it has drifted to. but I can open the windows and still be able to breathe ok. fire fighters still on high alert in many areas nearby.

The pics shown on tv look terrifying, it must be awful to have to leave your home knowing it probably won't be there when you go back, how do people cope with such traumas.

I hope there are few casualties and those in danger manage to leave in time, with their precious things with them.

We moan about our British weather but apart from the floods we are pretty lucky, aren't we?

Maybe I should touch wood, snow expected soon and we have several months of winter to go yet.
