Purple **^*Sparkly*^** Diamond Report 12 Jan 2013 04:21

The pics shown on tv look terrifying, it must be awful to have to leave your home knowing it probably won't be there when you go back, how do people cope with such traumas.

I hope there are few casualties and those in danger manage to leave in time, with their precious things with them.

We moan about our British weather but apart from the floods we are pretty lucky, aren't we?

Maybe I should touch wood, snow expected soon and we have several months of winter to go yet.

moonbi Report 12 Jan 2013 02:49

Much cooler day today.

27C here on the border nsw/vic
cloudy and a few rare spits of rain. \ very slight breeze

A lot less smoke in the air. so I dont know where it has drifted to. but I can open the windows and still be able to breathe ok. fire fighters still on high alert in many areas nearby.

Just heard from my friend in Melbourne that the bush fires are still raging in S E Australia.Still thinking of them and hope that it doesn't get hotter again and the wind drops.

~`*`Jude`*`~ Report 10 Jan 2013 11:14

Thinking of everyone in Australia and NZ.....keep safe!!

l saw on the news yesterday the family of 5 children in the sea with their g/parents to escape the fire, but because of the smoke they still had little oxygen. Very lucky to be alive!!

Hope Susan in NZ is safe??

Oh dear,not more fires.
We seem to hear about more disasters than we used to.Maybe it's because we get the news quicker?
Just hope everyone is safe wherever you are.

SueMaid Report 10 Jan 2013 09:18

Oh dear - I hope all our Kiwis stay safe.

Michelle Report 10 Jan 2013 09:16

Mother nature has her knickers in a twist here in NZ today, two tornadoes & flash flood warning (now abated) for the south island and scrub fire on the outskirts of Christchurch that has claimed four houses so far.

moonbi Report 10 Jan 2013 00:02

Cooler here again today, but the air is full of smoke and the smell.......

SueMaid Report 9 Jan 2013 21:02

It did rain in Sydney and down our way on Christmas Day and we were wearing cardigans :-0

The fires are slowly being contained but there are still some burning out of control. In bushland this isn't a bad thing and is needed for the bush to regenerate but it's homes and farmlands that are in danger.

Unfortunately we are expecting high temperatures again by the weekend :-(

Just seen the Astronaut pictures from space of the path of these fires.
Still seem to be a threat in some parts of Oz.
Hope things get better and you have a terrific rain storm....don't usually wish that on anyone!
Apparently it poured in Sydney on Christmas Day.!

Glad it seems to have abated a bit..still thinking of you all x <3

AnninGlos Report 9 Jan 2013 09:07

Moonnbi and others on here in Oz, stay safe and know that we are thinking of you. It must be horrible to have the fires so near and just have to play a waiting game. <3

JoyBoroAngel Report 9 Jan 2013 08:24

fingers crossed everybody is safe x

PatinCyprus Report 9 Jan 2013 08:14

OH has several relatives in Oz, so do I. Hope you all stay safe and it cools soon and the wind becomes a slight breeze.

We are all thinking of you. :-) <3

moonbi Report 9 Jan 2013 06:16

Thank you all for thinking of us here too.
Grass fire approached within 10 klms of Henty yesterday, when it was contained.
People were told to gather in the town, and prepare to evacuate.
Thank God that didn't need to happen. but many acres of prime farm land are blackened and stock killed.

Nice and cool here today, but still a little windy from the southerly change.

Moonbi in Albury NSW

MargarettawasMargot Report 9 Jan 2013 05:12

Thank you Brenda,Granny and anyone else who is thinking of us.We're ok as we live in Melbourne well away from where the fires are.I feel so sorry for the people in Dunalley, Tassy and in the parts of Victoria which have been affected.I really hate those very hot, windy days!!

Lynski Report 9 Jan 2013 00:27

The company I work for in NSW also has (make that had) a factory in Dunalley, Tasmania.

It was destroyed by fire last Friday.

+++DetEcTive+++ Report 8 Jan 2013 23:57

A contact in Hobart emailed on Sunday. She said that she was hiding indoors away from the smoke :-0

ann Report 8 Jan 2013 22:22
