Well done AnnMarieG, I wish I had your courage, I am terrified to set foot in a dentists surgery.

In 1975 I had a very bad car crash and my top and bottom jaws were fractured in several places and had to be pinned. In 1980 I had very bad toothache which was traced to one of my lower molars, the dentist decided to extract it, a few hours later when the numbness had worn off I was in terrible pain and went to the local A & E, an x-ray showed that one of the old fractures had re-fractured.

I have never set foot in a dentists surgery since, I resort to pain killers and hot tea bags when I get toothache :-(

OneFootInThe Grave, I know exactly how you feel.I have had so much done by terrible dentists over the last 60yrs that I am so so glad I have at long last found one who is so nice.He and all his staff made me feel very at ease and although I was really scared today I am so glad I plucked up the courage to go.I really feel as though a weight has been lifted of my shoulders and I know that might sound funny to some but I have had years of crowns falling off at inconvenient times, pain when they did and of course back to the dentists again.I know false teeth arent the best option ( I still have most of my own lol) but at least it is for me. I hope one day you will be able to do what I have done, I'm sure when the time is right for you, you will do it. Best wishes :-D :-D

Glad that some of you have success with your dentists :-D

Big smile shows good teeth ;-)

There is nothing to be worried about..really...I'm not related to a dentist in any way .

Dau's teeth were a bit uneven and I spent many apts at dentist and hosp to sort it.
She fainted on one apt when I wasn't with her !! ( She was over 18 at that time )

Just reading about going to the Dentist made my hair stand up!
Until I was in my twenties I was fine but then I became terrified but cannot recall why!!!

I have 6 broken teeth but as they do not hurt I do not worry. Last one took my whole filling out,

I feel dizzy even writing this

:-( :-( :-( :-S

I think many of you must have been traumatised by the awfulness of childhood visits to the dentist, which were very dreadful in the days before painkilling injections. . These days drilling is nothing worse than uncomfortable and it is worth having regular checkups just to be sure any problems can be dealt with before they get too bad.
