......that I have obviously led a sheltered life:-D I was waiting for a program to come on the telly and sat and watched in amazement the last 10 minutes of the Jerry Springer show :-0

Please tell me they are actors and that real people don't behave that way :-0

Not real.,,,,,,lets put it this way,SueM.......~

would any actor play any of the parts on a JS show,,,,,,,watch the Jemery Kyle we have and you will see we have the same real brainless people who appear on there.

J Kyle has even taken his show to US,would have thought he'd seen enough stupid folk on his show here, ;-) :-D

We don't get Jeremy Kyle here in Aus. It surely couldn't be worse. I think the gist of what I saw was a man who didn't know that his girlfriend was in fact a man :-0 and that he/she was seeing his brother who also didn't know he was a man :-0

Sharron

Sharron Report 23 Jan 2013 22:32

I love Jeremy Kyle.

Watching that is the only time I can feel posh.

Sounds like the usual kind of set up on the programme Suemaid! Even though you hate it, it gets kind of compulsive to carry on watching an episode once you start!! :-0

SueMaid

SueMaid Report 23 Jan 2013 22:37

I have, Linda :-\

Ann - I have to say that I sat with my mouth open for the remainder of the show :-0

I think most people would feel posh after watching that kind of show, Sharron.

Sue, you said you don't get Jeremy Kyle in Aus but it surely couldn't be worse (than JS).
Aahemmm, it is.

The JK show is excruciatingly cringeworthy to the extreme. I cannot believe that people like his guests really exist. I like to tell myself they don't, but deep down I know they do :-(

A typical subject would be:- my drug-addict alcoholic girlfriend, just out of prison, has slept with my dad, her stepdad, the milkman, her brother's budgie, and my granny's cousin's son's bessy friend and now she's pregnant and says it's mine but i'm not sure if I believe her. I wanna bellieve her but something tells me she might be lying.

I can vouch for the fact that a young couple were on Kyle. They were quite violent and had to be kept apart.

Couple of days later I saw same couple in Daventry Town Centre all loved up and happy with each other. Suppose the fee and the night in a posh hotel helped them to feel angry ;-)

SueMaid

SueMaid Report 24 Jan 2013 07:59

That sounds about right, Karen. I have to say that I thought the audience egging on the 'participants' was ghastly. Does that happen of Jeremy Kyle too?

Cynthia

Cynthia Report 24 Jan 2013 08:58

Sue, I've caught some odd snippets from the JK show now and then and they nearly always leave me speechless.

The trouble is, some people actually DO lead that sort of life and many know no difference - I've come across similar scenarios in my 'other' life.

After my brain has unscrambled itself from the scenario presented on screen, I try to get to grips with the possible root cause of the problem. Some of it is obvious publicity seeking whilst there is also the possibility of learning difficulties in some of the folk.

Their upbringing could have a lot to do with things in that, this is how their parents behaved so they think it's quite normal to lead that sort of life. They have no other example to follow.

Others may simply have gone off the rails due to circumstances beyond their control or been led astray by dubious friendships.

So, whilst I am cringing and shaking my head in disbelief, part of me also feels a certain sadness for them in their situation.

Cynthia. The family is at the root of all our solidity in society.

I have never known anything all my life than total communication, trust and love. Even when times have been exceptionally difficult at times of unemployment and pretty dire poverty. It is clear that those family qualities are rarer and rarer today.

I see so much in my "other" life (as you quaintly put it) that disturbs me so much. I see children swearing in front of parents, often swearing at parents. I see no family meals - just junk food while they watch telly or play games. I had better not continue, or I will get cross replies from those who say "I have no idea" :-)
