Just for balance

Because I don't. Never have. Will not be dictated to as to when I show love or give a gift to someone I love to keep the card companies and florists happy...I'll do it when I feel like it all year round...(when he deserves it) .cos I'm like that :-D

anyone else?

ME!!
I will eat chocolates when I like.
And.....it's a real pain trying to find a birthday card for someone between November and February as it's all Christmas cards, then Valentine's cards.

Muffyxx Report 10 Feb 2013 13:46

Absolutely. I do enjoy the chocs and flowers that are a fraction of the price in the days after Valentines day though....so much nicer when you know you've not been fleeced lol

Just a load of over-hyped, expensive, tacky, sickly, artificial c**p :-D.

Years ago it used to be a card, then it was bouquets and chocs, then meals and teddies, now it's weekends away at a spa, or Paris or Mount Fuji.

Bleughhhh!

My younger brother died on Valentines day so when l want to buy a bunch of flowers to put on his grave l have to pay well over the odds on that day and they don't seem to last as long. :-(

Yes, finding cards for 'grown up' granddaughters is difficult any time of the year. The cards are always too twee or babyish. I have the same problem for my other two gds :-(

We dont do Valentines day Mothers day Fathers day etc as feel they are so over commercialized.

As our Birthdays too are only 9 days apart . diff birth years lol, we decided yonks ago that buying each other birthday gifts was more like buying your own , When finances were a bit stretched we talked it over and said its not needed. We go out to dinner in between the both birthdays to celebrate. Same too for our wedding anniversary in August we go out to dinner. OH does send me flowers too and thats very much appreciated but he doesn't want a reciprocation

After 55 years married I think we have it sorted

We have never done Valentines, anniversary or mother/father days for each other but our chilldren send us a card on mother/fathers day, they don't buy expensive cards just the cheap ones. Don't understand the 'Happy Mothers day to my wife ' type cards etc.

Parents-in-law married on 14th February, but their romantic tendencies didn't rub off on their son.
We've been married many years now and the day passes as any other does here, - no cards, flowers or chocolate.
I don't remember us ever exchanging Valentine cards, but may have done before we married ?

I'm with Maggie re. cards.
Most family birthdays are November to February, so one has to think well ahead to get a decent choice..... Not many cards suitable for Grand Prix-mad, Rugby-loving daughters at the best of times though...............

We don't do Valentines either. I do not need a card, flowers or chocs to know that himself loves me and stlll does after nearly 40 years :-D

Like Annie birthdays come and go unmarked except for family and friends sending cards. The children send cards or telephone on Mothers' and Fathers' day.

Commercialism has ruined many a celebration (not us) by marketing the 'necessities' that we are supposed to give. Rats to that!!!
