Can anyone tell me where i can sell a very good one off gown with pashmeena (spelling), I think there are shops that do this but I don't know what heading they come under in directories.

AnnCardiff Report 15 Feb 2013 21:15

vera2010 Report 15 Feb 2013 21:19

Nearly New or if they are old and a good label Vintage shops
Or according to Google - Dress Agencies

PollyinBrum Report 15 Feb 2013 21:21

ZZzzz You could try ebay

terryj Report 15 Feb 2013 21:23

did a search for pashminna and john lewis and debenhams come up
don't know if its the time of thing you can use

Wend Report 15 Feb 2013 21:28

Why not try googling 'Nearly New Clothes' for your area.

. . . or, in AnnC's case, 'Bleddy Past-it Clothes' ;-) :-D

terryj Report 15 Feb 2013 21:29

oops didn't see sell thought you was after one

i'll go and have a lie down

KathleenBell Report 15 Feb 2013 21:35

The local shops that sell good quality clothing on commission in our area are under Dress Agencies in Yellow Pages. Bear in mind they usually take 50%.

AnnCardiff Report 15 Feb 2013 22:08

I'll have you know Wend that paisley shawls are much sought after - just don't know where :-D :-D

mine is about 100 years old

Amanda, Report 15 Feb 2013 22:11

If it something that students would buy for their Summer Ball I am sure a lot of them would be interested.

Is there is a Uni near you?

Kind regards

Wend Report 15 Feb 2013 22:22

AnnC - that's not just vintage, that's antique :-0 :-0 :-0

Put it on E-bay pdq :-D

ZZzzz Report 15 Feb 2013 22:30

Yes there is a uni near me, there is also a shop in a town near me which I just happen to be going to tomorrow, neither of which I would have found without your help, thanks all.
AnnCardiff there are film studios that buy vintage items, alas I don't know how you would go about that either. That would keep Wend quiet for a while if she saw it in a costume drama. ;-)

Wend Report 15 Feb 2013 22:45

Here's a good website AnnC - can't see Paisley scarves, but you never know. Just don't mention your unmentionables ;-)

ZZzzz Report 15 Feb 2013 23:01

That is looking good Wend, I know my MIL sold a very vintage pram to a film studio some years ago, I wil let my Brother know about it though, he doesn't throw anything away and is in his 60s now , I may even got a good price for him LOL LOL.

LollyWithSprinklez Report 15 Feb 2013 23:28

Lots of interesting info on Paisley shawls here Ann, but not where to sell them
However, it might help you learn more about yours. A friend of mine had an old one too and it was borrowed by the Castle Museum here for a talk on shawls. I expect her daughter has it now unless she sold it when she cleared her Mum's house.

OneFootInTheGrave Report 16 Feb 2013 07:54

Avoid E-Bay if you are thinking of selling as some old Paisley Shawls are worth quite a bit of money, why don't you send a photo to Paisley Museum, they have the largest collection in the world:-

Paisley Museum and Art Galleries
High Street
Tel: 0141 889 3151

Or take it to "Flog It" the next time they are doing a show in your area

AnnCardiff Report 16 Feb 2013 10:13

many thanks for the advice - much appreciated

ZZzzz Report 16 Feb 2013 16:05

Apparently the kind of dress that mine is doesn't so they wouldn't buy it, guess I'll keep it for another 10 years then maybe it will be vintage. ;-)
