Why not try googling 'Nearly New Clothes' for your area.

. . . or, in AnnC's case, 'Bleddy Past-it Clothes' ;-) :-D

The local shops that sell good quality clothing on commission in our area are under Dress Agencies in Yellow Pages. Bear in mind they usually take 50%.

If it something that students would buy for their Summer Ball I am sure a lot of them would be interested.

Is there is a Uni near you?

Kind regards
Amanda

AnnC - that's not just vintage, that's antique :-0 :-0 :-0

Put it on E-bay pdq :-D

ZZzzz

ZZzzz Report 15 Feb 2013 22:30

Yes there is a uni near me, there is also a shop in a town near me which I just happen to be going to tomorrow, neither of which I would have found without your help, thanks all.
AnnCardiff there are film studios that buy vintage items, alas I don't know how you would go about that either. That would keep Wend quiet for a while if she saw it in a costume drama. ;-)

Here's a good website AnnC - can't see Paisley scarves, but you never know. Just don't mention your unmentionables ;-)

Lots of interesting info on Paisley shawls here Ann, but not where to sell them
However, it might help you learn more about yours. A friend of mine had an old one too and it was borrowed by the Castle Museum here for a talk on shawls. I expect her daughter has it now unless she sold it when she cleared her Mum's house.

AnnCardiff

Avoid E-Bay if you are thinking of selling as some old Paisley Shawls are worth quite a bit of money, why don't you send a photo to Paisley Museum, they have the largest collection in the world:-

Paisley Museum and Art Galleries
High Street
Paisley
Renfrewshire
PA1 2BA
Tel: 0141 889 3151
Email: [email protected]

Or take it to "Flog It" the next time they are doing a show in your area

Apparently the kind of dress that mine is doesn't so they wouldn't buy it, guess I'll keep it for another 10 years then maybe it will be vintage. ;-)
