Have to admit, I'm getting excited - I may be able to hang my (washed) sheets on the line this weekend - spring is coming :-D

maggiewinchester Report 21 Feb 2013 23:02

I sleep alone in a double bed (no sympatheic 'aaa's' please, it was cheaper than getting a single bed and all the bedding!!)

I have top & bottom sheet, and wash those & duvet cover (plus of ocurse pillow cases and bolster cover (I have a 1940's bed, with sprung metal base, footboard, headboard, and gap between the headboard & base - hence the bolster) every week :-P

There is a reason - I have cats, one of which sleeps on my bed, nomatter how much you wash, cat hairs stick to the duvet cover, hence the top sheet. I sleep in my birthday suit, and the smallest bit of cat fur - I'll feel it.
As I have fitted bottom sheets, I don't like to put the top sheet on the bottom. I also have 'sets', so don't like to mess them up.

Me, a fussy mare? Naaaaa

Top pillow cases and bottom sheet twice a week and the rest once a week,

OOOOOoooooooooooo Sandie your making me blush ;-)

Yep and they was always army blankets as well...lolol we got dooovets in the early 70's we thought we were right posh, :-D but before that I remember me mam would have a week in summer when the each beds blankets were washed each day :-D

Lyndi Report 21 Feb 2013 22:49

Thing is Hayley, back in the good old days when we had sheets and blankets, we changed the sheets but those blankets didn't get washed once a fortnight!
I reckon it's why we have so many bugs - we are all just way too clean ;-)

We always have a top sheet , so the duvet cover doesn't get washed weekly ..unless we get hot .

I still use 2 sheets, but dont do the top bottom shift I used to on the prams when I had my babies, but when I strip the sheets and pillow cases weekly as I use a top sheet most times I get away with doing me quit cover once a fortnight if I am in the that sort of mood.

:-D

Yes Ann, when first married and having thick cotton sheets I admit to doing the same, top to bottom and wash one sheet a week, no washing machine just a Burco boiler and hang on the line whatever the weather. That was pre fitted bottom sheets of course.

Lyndi

Lyndi Report 21 Feb 2013 22:44

Just turn the sheet round and flip duvet over Ann lol - and do your bit for the environment at the same time ;-)

AnnCardiff Report 21 Feb 2013 22:41

Years ago when it was cotton sheets top and bottom, used to wash the bottom one every week and move the top one to the bottom - boiled them up in my electric boiler

nowadays, I'm on my tod so wash the pillow cases, sheet and duvet cover weekly although of course I only sleep on the one side of the bed - spose I could move over for a week but then I'd be too far from the bedside table and the light

Lyndi Report 21 Feb 2013 22:38

Slightly off topic I have never understood the wearing of underwear for two days by wearing it inside out on day 2 :-0 :-| :-S - - would rather keep my sheets on for a month that adopt that practice :-D ;-)
