I've been wondering how you've been getting on Michael and hope your meds dose/side affects was resolved without any further discomfort. :-)
All the best.

I have also suffered calcific tendonitis in the past, that's really painful - doc thought at first it was a frozen shoulder which I have also had a while back, but then said c.t. We do take our bodies for granted until the pains start and we realise we have probably abused them sometimes causing wear and tear etc.

I used to move wardrobes and furniture around on my own many a time when managing the student lets and doing up my house, so no wonder I am falling apart now.

Hope the docs can get to the bottom of the iffy blood results and get you really fit again so if the op becomes necessary you can get through it well. If you can get along with the injections for the while, probably best till you get the infections out of your system too.

Best of luck, I have painful shoulders so I know what you are up against, altho no one has mentioned ops yet, will be having a hip replacement in a few years time apparently, according to the doc after the xrays recently taken.

Shame when the old body lets us down eh?

Hello Michael,

Glad you have had your appointment with the orthopaedic dept. Hope all went well and sorry to hear that you have been through the mill with your virus infections.

Sounds like the doctors are being cautious and that's what you would hope for..lolol
After any ortho prodecure the main concern is infection, bacterial being the lost likely.

I know the injections aren't pleasant but they do relieve the pain and let you use the arm more.

Hopefully they will determine why you are getting viral infections and the decision re surgery can be made in 6 months.

a wise decision. viral infections can take a while to recover from.

been to see tho otho at the hospital they have decided to carry on the injection,s for a furthersix month,s to see if an op is the way to go.which to me is ok as my health is not too good at the moment ive had two viral infection,s since christmas still getting over the last one. the docs are trying to find out why had a load of bloods done monday the results was not too bad most were ok but three had a question mark against them so more investigations to find out what is wrong. michael2

Michael ~

My Mum-in-law had a shoulder replacement (also both hips & both knees, we called her Bionic woman).

She had lots of physiotherapy on the road to recovery.

I won't kid you ~ it's a biggie, but Mum was happy she had it done.

Hello Michael,

My daughters good friend...her mum had hers done a couple of years ago and as far as I am aware it was a success.

My hubby is also a builder aged now 61....he had his hip refurbished 2 years ago and is now waiting to have his kneecap replaced. Years of hard work have taken their toll but he won't give up...and has now ordered himself a new transit with the intention of carrying on for as ong as he can.

Write down all the questions you need to ask.....and if you don't understand the answers ask again.

Michael,

I'm sure your ortho consultant will take all of your history into account before he advises you.

If it's a yes to the op then trust them :-)
