Sent specially printed calendar to BIL before Christmas, correct address and postcode. Hadn't arrived by middle of January, so had another printed and posted. You've guessed it, he now has 2! Postman said the first had been delivered to an address with a similar road name but different postcode. So, are postcodes a waste of time?

Conversely, a Christmas card with just our first names, part of street name and village was delivered to us - but then our village postie knows everyone by their first names!

Still waiting for a Mothers Day card posted by my daughter in London last Wednesday. (to Bournemouth)
Last October I was sent a parcel from America. (For newborn grandson) Never arrived. I contacted the post office but they put the blame on the American side and not over here. I have other things go astray as well. Fed up with it.
Post Office isn't like it used to be!!!

:-D :-D Today I received my Mother's day card from daughter including a M&S gift card.

I really have to exonerate the post office, I can't believe that my well educated, highly paid, intelligent daughter in her 50s sent that envelope. Not only did it not have a post code, the word Glos was almost undecipherable and the whole address would have been written better by my 10 year old granddaughter.

So I have to say, 'well done the post office for getting it here at all'.

I'm pleased your card has arrived at last Ann,I am still waiting for two of mine. I thought they would arrive today, daughters more upset than me, they posted them on the Monday before 1st class, I'ts what I expect now. In December I posted my son's birthday card for 16th a fortnight early, also Xmas cards. You've guessed, they arrived a week after Xmas. What is going on with the Royal Mail, It's gone to the dogs since it was split from B.T. but that is another debate!! :-S :-S :-S :-S :-S :-S :-S

Glad your card arrived eventually Ann, maybe you should send your daughter some ready printed labels with your address on lol

In Feb o.h. got a birthday card from his son sent via Moonpig as he was working offshore. It arrived in good time, clever really considering the son had put his own postcode on in a different town, instead of the one for this house!

Yesterday we got a letter sent from Peterborough to us in Norwich, it was posted on Saturday with a second class stamp so was a very good service.

At my own house there are often letters put through the door that should have been delivered in a street parallel to mine, name of street completely different, or I get stuff for neighbours. I often wonder if they get my letters but don't bother to repost.

At Christmas I got a card from friends in America, they had written England in very small letters. On the back was a note saying Merry Christmas from us in Norwich, Ct. where your card came before we posted it on. Bless them!

It was my birthday on Sunday 10th March. Had two cards delivered to the wrong address. Not the fault of the Post Office, but partly the fault of the postman. One had the correct address and post code, the other, from my sister, had the wrong house number on it (think she was having a senior moment when she addressed the envelope). The person who it was delivered to is also called Val and her birthday was on 4th March. The other Val did open the card from my sister as she thought it was for her, as it only said Val on the envelope, but realised it must be for me as she didn't have a sister called Angela. Her husband bought both cards to me on Monday and apologised for the card being opened, which wasn't their fault as I would probably done the same, thinking it was for me. Anyway, got my cards in the end and my sisters one was beautifully hand made by her so everything was fine in the end.

So pleased that the missing cards etc have now turned up.

Last year we had 2 letters delivered which were intended for someone 200 miles away. The only thing we had in common was the house number and the initial letter of the road.

On the second occasion, I managed to catch the delivering postman who said that it was probably the PO coder who types a series of invisible dots which correspond to the post code given. That may be so, but he (the delivering postman) should have spotted that he was delivering to the wrong address.

As both letters were from a hospital as shown by the franking machine, I hope they got to the intended recipient in time.

Glad you got your card Ann, especially as a lot of time and effort went into making it. I am still waiting for mine from number one daughter posted on the third.

Ten days is a long time even for you isn't it?

Think daughter was relieved as there was a gift card in with it.
