I never liked flat mushrooms stuffed or otherwise :-)

Kay????

Kay???? Report 9 Mar 2013 16:43

I can eat them raw,,,,I think for me stuffing them spoils them,,,cheese and other stuffs then the mushroom taste is lost.....

mind they are nice grilled/baked in a dish with a little mik, cream and a knob of butter with loads of white pepper,

Do you put the stuffing in a flat cap between the tweed and lining?

Does this make it warmer?

My dad never wore a flat cap - he wore a sailor's hat :-D

BK - does that help?
AnninGlos - merriment is not permitted - this is a serious thread about the delights of flat cap mushrooms.
Incidentally, I just wondered - should it be a big knob? And if so, how big is a knob? Is it an actual measurement? Or does it depend on the individual?
Grams or ounces would be useful. And how about herbs? Any recommendations on those? Someone said to me earlier that dill was appropriate.

You will have to let us know how they taste Errol as the wild ones I am used to do not grow till late summer.

The flat caps I have at the moment are smaller & do not have the lovely strong taste of the horse. ;-)

Muffy you really must do something about that cough.

Something to soothe your throat maybe? Perhaps butter?

Do these mushrooms come from any particular part of the UK or do they grow all over?
