Starting stalls?? Our friend was right :-D

I wonder how much of the $300 per hour the "girls" get.

"Various items of memorabilia"? The mind boggles :-D

Scozz, try this link

This is how the area looks now. It is on most of the local tour operators' routes

Maybe they had a couple of air-conditioned ones for the tourists?

:-D

Allan Report 15 Mar 2013 22:06

But my wife was always with me :-|

As for the answer to your questions, probably soundproofed but not air conditioned.

They make them tough in Kal, besides the heat doesn't encourage one to linger, as it were. ;-) :-D :-D

LadyScozz

LadyScozz Report 15 Mar 2013 01:00

Yikes!

Considering the climate in Kalgoorlie.......did they have airconditioning?

Considering the business............were they soundproof?

:-D

Allan

Allan Report 15 Mar 2013 00:37

Nope, Scozz, that's just what they looked like. Corrugated Iron, very small stuctures.

Not a very large picture, but if you follow this link you'll get the idea

lol Allan :-D

Re the Kalgoorlie girls....... I know a man who went to Kalgoorlie every two weeks (he worked on the old "Tea & Sugar" train)...... he said the girls were in horse boxes! Rows and rows of them.

Maybe I misheard the word "horse" ?

:-D

I wonder if before she retired she had a whip round for all her old clients?

LadyScozz Report 14 Mar 2013 23:49

It'll never beat (no pun intended) Hay Street in Kalgoorlie.

Although mostly closed, all the old brothels, which at first I thought meant soup kitchens ;-) were doing a roaring trade back in the early 1980's.

it was a well known tourist spot and the girls enjoyed having a chat with passers by

I cracked up at their surname :-D

OH & I were in Amsterdam in the late 1980s, ofcourse we went for a walk through the "red light" district. Can't remember seeing twins in any of the windows :-D

We were advised by the staff at the hotel not to go there at night, not only because it could be dangerous, but the "girls" didn't like other women there at night, and often threw things at them!

P.Holly ~ have you ordered your leather outfit yet? :-D :-D

Mayfield

Mayfield Report 14 Mar 2013 12:03

I've noticed in our local Co-Op in a popular retirement area, that as you queue to check out the "Top shelf" magazine shelves are only about shoulder height. I suppose it's so little old men with a stoop can still reach them ;-)
