complain - in the strongest possible terms - over and over again if necessary

if you don't want to do it, give me the name of the hospital and the ward I'll take great pleasure in doing it - it beggars belief that such people should consider taking up employment in a caring profession - I am incensed!!!!!!

Yes - Bring it to the attention of the Nurse-in-Charge and make sure that all those on duty are told at 'hand-over'.
She (the 'orrible one) may have forgotten about your PD, only recalling why you are there at the moment.

Can you or one of your visitors bluetac a sign above your bed, something along the lines of

PD = weak muscles if medication not yet given

speak to the doctor, explain you understand about the nurses ect,but make it clear that at some time you will need help out of bed unless the hospital provides the equiptment to assist you to do it alone. ,

Dizzi, I am sitting here incensed at this nurses attitude, yet I do understand you wondering if you should complain. As with any bullying, the victim is afraid that complaining will make things worse - and make no mistake, this nurse is a bully.

I spent my life working in care, yet when I was very ill in hospital I witnessed a nurse acting in a similar way towards an old lady in the bed next to mine.
To my shame I felt so vulnerable I did nothing. :-(

I hope you can get this sorted - maybe there is someone who can support you in this :-) xx

Oh my god Dizzi, you must do something. l would complain, but its your choice!! She has NO RIGHT to treat you that way and the males nurse is no better by not sticking up for you. Disgusting!! There are ways of transferring patients in and out of bed, onto wheel chairs, in and out of a car etc etc....did;nt know if this stupid rule, probably another Euro idea!!
Hope you get something sorted Dizzi??

I wouldn't complain as such, but suggest to the nurse and/or Matron that there are exceptions and that you really do need help when you ask for some, you can't be the only one in that position.

Lyndi Report 24 Mar 2013 12:37

You must complain Dizzi, that behaviour and attitude is totally unacceptable. Even if she is physically unable to help where is her compassion?
People who don't care should not be working in care - end of

NEED SOME ADVICE AS WETHER TO MAKE A COMPLAINT OR NOT,
I KNOW OUR NURSES ARE WONDERFULL BUT ONE NURSE MADE ONE DAY EVEN WORSE THAN I THOUHGT POSSIBLE,THE NEW RULES ARE THEY DO NOT HELP YOU AT ALL TO GET OUT OF BED IN NO WAY. AS IT WAS TO EARLY FOR MY PD PILL I ASKED FOR HELP TOO MOVE MY LEGS SHE REFUSED ,I SAID I WAS DESPARATE SHE SAID WE DONT HELP SO WE DONT HURT OUR BACKS (THATS REASNABLE TO AN EXTENT) BUT THERE WAS NOTHING TO HOLD TO PULL ON,A MALE NURSE WALKED BY I YELLED TO HIM SO I COULD USE HIS ARM TO PULL ON EXPLAINING WHY I HAD NO STREANGHTH IN MY ARMS AND LEGS,I MANAGED TOO GET TO THE LOO ,BUT WHILE IN THERE I HEARD HER OUTSIDE SAYING TO THE MALE NURSE,SHE'LL HAVE TO MOVE HERSELF OR SHE GOES HUNGY WHEN THE FOOD COMES ROUND IM NOT RUNNING AFTER HER.
EVEN MORE COMMENTS THROUGH THE DAY TOWARDS ME AT ONE TIME I GOT TO THE LOO UNAIDED SHE WAS WAITING AT THE DOOR AND SAID IT SUITS YOU WHEN YOU WANT TO WALK THEN,,,,THIS GOT TO ME ,I TRIED EXPLAINING BUT NOTHING SHE KNEW MY TYPE,
I DONT LIKE COMPLAINING AND I KNOW I WILL HAVE TO BE ADMITTED TO THE WARD AGAIN IF I DO COMPLAIN SHE COULD BE WORSE, I JUST DONT KNOW WHAT TO DO.
