KempinaPartyhat Report 30 Mar 2013 17:41

Look the food vouchers are given to those who say they have no food they get this for their voucher

Milk (UHT or powdered)
Sugar (500g)
Fruit juice (carton)
Soup
Pasta sauces
Sponge pudding (tinned)
Tomatoes (tinned)
Cereals
Rice pudding (tinned)
Tea Bags/instant coffee
Instant mash potato
Rice/pasta
Tinned meat/fish

if they had sorted immigration out years ago
things would not be like this today
and neither would the housing situation be like it is to

StrayKitten

StrayKitten Report 30 Mar 2013 17:30

Silly Sausage Report 30 Mar 2013 17:29

I too am in favour of this, when I heard about it I didnt expect the whole of benefit to be paid in vouchers as Ann says people have water bills to pay and need cash for other things as well, bet a few tattoo artist go out of business if it comes off :-P

Muffyxx

Muffyxx Report 30 Mar 2013 17:28

That's just mad.

If i don't have the money......the children get what I can afford....Sometimes I buy things from the car boot.....*shrugs* loads do the same........My housing and food come before anything ..anyone who is daft enough to let their children dictate their budget and leave themselves short of food ought to be ashamed of themselves!!!!!!!!

AnninGlos Report 30 Mar 2013 17:27

Stray I agree with you to a point about why have a baby if you can't afford to provide for it, (and also multiple children!), but as I said, many of these families with babies and children will have been well able to afford it until their firm went belly up. Look at how many have gone into administration recently, think of all the parents who were working to provide for their children, then look at the queue seeking work this week when 4000 applied for 1000 jobs. Those are the people who need help.

KempinaPartyhat

KempinaPartyhat Report 30 Mar 2013 17:25

I think that if our parents had been doing the parenting now days they would have handed down clothes or gone to jumble sales the problem is WHAT PEOPLE EXSPECT
Nowdays kids want the best of everything so leaving those whom!!! most of us are struggling not able to buy food

StrayKitten

StrayKitten Report 30 Mar 2013 17:21

see baby banks??? why have a child if you cant provide for it,

i agree with most of what you say Ann, these things should be there for those who need, and not want them,

but some people will always abuse the system

JoyBoroAngel

JoyBoroAngel Report 30 Mar 2013 17:18

its going to be just like during the war
good job i kept my mums old cook book
tells you how to make everything
even soap window cleaner ect

AnninGlos

AnninGlos Report 30 Mar 2013 17:16

I think that yes, there may be some who buy luxuries and then struggle but with the present economic crisis there are going to be many who find themselves out of a job through no fault of there own, people made redundant when firms go into administration, many of these will have families and mortgages because they can't have foreseen being made redundant. These are possible the ones who are going to struggle.

It is appalling that food vouchers and food banks are necessary but the situation is here now and has to be addressed. I don't think it is a UK problem only either. I think the people who run the food banks and the people who give food to them should be applauded. I believe too, in this area we also have what they call 'child banks' I think that is the term, where all the things needed for babies and young children can be handed in and recycled to needy families.

I can't criticize these families that need help even those that put the wrong things before food. I feel it is something that has been waiting to happen in this 'grab all' society. Many of these parents have not been educated themselves in how to manage. I think 'there but for the grace' go my family.'

JoyBoroAngel

JoyBoroAngel Report 30 Mar 2013 17:10

will they be issuing clothing vouchers to :-(

StrayKitten

StrayKitten Report 30 Mar 2013 16:57

i thought the food vouchers are a good idea, but thinking about it, i think they shouldnt really be needed,

if peple can afford to buy luxuries then they can afford to pay there bill, like the rest of us do

maggiewinchester

maggiewinchester Report 30 Mar 2013 16:53

Food vouchers aren't much use if you have utility bills to pay.
If utility bills arten't paid, they're cut off - then you have to pay an arm & a leg to get reconnected.

.........just so long as that minority cant get fags or booze, s*d the majority!

StrayKitten

StrayKitten Report 30 Mar 2013 16:52

i know times are hard, iv been at rock bottom, but my child came first every time, and always would

Lyndi

Lyndi Report 30 Mar 2013 16:47

Well said Stray, all credit to you xx

StrayKitten

StrayKitten Report 30 Mar 2013 16:44

thing is, everyone gets money thro benefits, or wages,
iv been on benefit, and its dam hard to manage your money but my child never ever went without, food, clothes, heating, and most importantly time and love,

there is no reason a child should go without, none whats so ever, money is there...it is dwn to the parents to manage it and make sure the children have everything thy need

KempinaPartyhat

KempinaPartyhat Report 30 Mar 2013 16:39

Food banks provide a delivery service for those who are disabled ....but we must remember a lot of councils are backing these projects so YOU the council tax payer will foot the cost of those deliveries

Yes whatever the poor will be poorer and the rich richer!!

Remember in all this CENTRAL GOVERMENT are cutting the benifits which covered these situation ..ie crisis loans !

JoyBoroAngel

JoyBoroAngel Report 30 Mar 2013 16:34

so if you cant get fuel how will the disabled get about
i think the basic ideas ok but dont think it will work
people will find a way to make money
out the poor and the food vouchers :-( :-(
