Could not resist sharing this....found it on Lancs OPC while researching Parr family....who would saddle a poor girl with a name like that?

John Parr - Son of Edward Parr & Isabella (formerly Bell), his wife

Fancy going thro life with a name like Isabella Bell!

hahaha....when we were kids at school, way back in the early 50s,we had a few, including Isabella Bell.....can also remember Teresa Green....never even thought of them being proper peoples names...we used them as kind of "knock-knock" jokes!

made us titter back then(still amuses me today....i never quite grew up! lol)

and what happened to the christian name being same as the surname?

in our town we had Carol Caroll.,William(Billy)Williams.,and a boy in my class was Evan Evans.

anyone add to them?

Of course....
there was
William Williams (sorry Elaine said that)
Thomas Thomas
James (Jimmy) James
Robert Roberts
Edward Edwards
Lionel Lionel
Philip Phillips
Thomas Thomas
Vincet Vincent
there's probably a whole lot more!

Shame their parents didn't put a thought into it...or was it on purpose ?

Elaine Report 13 Apr 2013 03:41

Aw..poor divils!

I suppose though, years ago,Fanny was just a shorted version of Frances...there was nothing vulgar about it!

They weren't to know, that over a hundred years later, their names would be a cause of hilarity!

Lol

my first ever boss was Leyshon Leyshon

I worked with a guy - a nurse - called Michael Hunt - someone in the office had been looking for him when he walked past our office window - I called out - Mike Hunt just walked past the window, to which some wag in the office replied - "Well I've heard of throwing you voice, but that's just plain ridiculous"!!!!
