On 13 April 1570 Guy Fawkes, also known as Guido Fawkes, was born in York, he adopted the name while fighting for the Spanish in the Low Countries.

He was part of a group of provincial English Catholics who planned the failed Gunpowder Plot of 1605 to blow up the Houses of Parliament.

Oh that he was alive today :-D :-D :-D

JustJohn Report 13 Apr 2013 15:29

He was a hero for a large section of British society. He was detested by others - who celebrated his death every 5 Nov with a public holiday, merry family days including a lot of baptims and weddings. Then they would dance round his burning effigy and celebrate his death for at least 200 years after 1605:-S :-S

DazedConfused Report 13 Apr 2013 19:36

He would now be residing in either Belmarsh Prison or Guantanamo Bay!!!!
