I think class is meaningless. Nevertheless, there's an awful lot of people (especially in the media) who seem concerned about it.

The difference between them and the class conscious of the past, is that, nowadays, people try to give the impression that they come from a lower class than they really do.

You are absolutely right ChristinaS, all in the interests of not being considered 'Stuck Up' It's so silly, we are all as we are, and come from wherever we come from! nothing to be ashamed of one way or the other, Interesting certainly, shaming, certainly not.

Some interesting posts but I think maggiewinchester and how Class can change with your own circumstances within the "Class system"

My own thoughts are that modern class system should be based on how an individual conducts themselves rather than social activities, monetary and material possessions
