My Mother always had lots of old sayings like

"Never cast a clout till May is out" Was it the Month of May Blossom on the trees?

"Also her favourites , "Many a slip twixt cup and lip" ..................

And my mums best ever which had me and my dad in fits

Don't talk to any strange men unless you know them

If you asked mum how old she was she would say I,m a little bit older in my head than I am in my teeth.

Always puzzled me cos her teeth spent most of their life in a cup on the kitchen window ledge ;-)

My gran used to say
'He/she's no better than he/she ought to be'

Also 'Red shoes, no knickers', and if she was talking about someone she didn't like (usually a woman) she'd refer to said woman as
'That Party'.
