We've had a horrible time since November last year.

I've posted about the flood in the house (we're still living in a tip), but lots of other awful things have happened, which I won't go into here.

Now.......

OH has been coughing like a mad dog since last week. Typical Mr Macho, wouldn't go to the doctor.

He went this morning, was gone for hours. Doc sent him for Xrays.

He has pneumonia!!

Doc wanted him to go to hospital, but he won't (Mr Macho again). He was given an intra-vein?? injection, and has to have them for the next five days, also some heavy duty antibiotics.

He is currently lying on the couch, cuppa at his elbow, heatpad at his feet, and the tv remote in hand.

Poor man. He rarely gets sick, and he's hating this........ especially as he can't play golf!!!!!!!

:-(

Hello Scozz......l'm about to go back to bed and saw your thread.
What a horribe time you're having.
l sort of don't blame OH for not going into hospital, but he's going to have be very sensible and do as he's told......keep him in doors and hope he feels better soon, look after you too.

Take care
l will look back in the morning x

He's gone back to bed.

Best place for him.

I should sleep in the spare room for a while, so that he can rest properly. The problem is, I can't even see the bed, it's covered with the contents of three cupboards! Ah well, I can heave it all on the floor.

I'm sure the tradesmen will turn up now (it's been over six weeks since the flood) .... just when we don't want them!

Good luck to your OH for a swift recovery., Scozz. Sometimes **** comes in lorry loads and when you are least expecting it, and then it settles down to an occasional cow pat being flung at you from time to time. You may be sure you have now had your quota and the Universe will be smiling at you soon :-D ;-) <3

LadyScozz Report 14 May 2013 07:58

We've had enough **** thrown at us in the last six months to start our own fertiliser plant.

:-(

He's back watching tv, and coughing like mad.

I changed the bed linen AND his pillow....... all soaking wet!

I'll have to start taking stuff off the spare bed.. should take me at least an hour! The only place to put it is on the floor...the contents of the linen cupboard & two wardrobes.

Block your ears....... I'm about to swear & scream

:-(

Forgot to mention....... 'phone rang at 8 this morning, friends back from o/s holiday, asking if we could pick them up at the airport, because the friend who was supposed to pick them up was a no-show (have since found out that HE went on holiday on Saturday!). No way could we go, so I hope they managed to contact someone. Public transport around here is non-existent, and a taxi fare would be horrendous.

Poor man.....and poor you :-(

Go ahead and scream - it usually helps :-D

Hope he is soon on the mend but, meanwhile, look after yourself too.

Take care. Cx

Just hope those friends understood your predicament, Scozz. Not picking them up just adds to your woes.

Sounds like OH is taking care and he has best nursing staff possible. But I am talking as a man who would not go into hospital if there was any miniscule alternative ;-)

LadyScozz

LadyScozz Report 14 May 2013 09:26

Double Scream!!!!!!!!

I got all the stuff off the spare bed, piled it up on the floor.

Tried the bedside lamp. It had been unplugged, probably by the men who brought the machines to dry out the carpet (after the flood). Unplugged at the wall ofcourse...... the power point is behind all the stuff I just stacked up! arrrrrrrrrgh. I had to move half the stuff again, plug in the *@*+** lamp, and make sure it worked, then move the stuff back again.

OH hates hospitals, even our local one which is a very small country hospital. He says if he had gone in, the staff would have kicked him out by this afternoon. lol I know he's not good with hospitals, I've been in a couple of times with semi-serious stuff, and he sat in the corner like a statue.

Just wait......... when I go to bed the light globe will go bang.

We haven't heard from our friends yet.......... maybe they're walking, halfway between here & Brisbane :-(

Oh poor Scozz, my heart goes out to you!
Why do men ignore symptoms?

My OH is also the macho man who doesn't need doctors or hospitals, but it nearly killed him!
When he was 40yrs old he ignored all the tell tale signs that something wasn't right
After a full day at work, it finally dawned on him that he was really unwell and decided to drive HIMSELF to A&E.
He walked in the door, on the point of collapse and was taken straight to resus .
He was having a major heart attack.
He was discharged one week later on his 41st birthday

I sent out emails this morning, letting rellies & friends know

'Phone rang about ten minutes ago......... Himself is still on the 'phone with his big sister, who is a nurse. I hope he listens to her!!

GL ~ I know what you mean! My Scottish male rellies would only go to the doc if their leg was hanging off. The Aussie ones are the same..... do all men do this?

Scozz,

I have just had Pneumonia pretty bad, hospitalized for 6 weeks !! still getting over it.

I'm having physiotherapy for my breathing right now..........I do hope he does not get that bad.

Just tell OH to drink loads of water as advised by the doctors & lots of rest.

I don't think he'll be playing Golf for a while :-S

Take care of him he'll need it !!

Evening Jude :-D I'm in Australia, it's just gone 8.05pm, the posted time here gives UK time.

Sis gave very good advice......... she told him to get lots of rest, and do as he's told! lol

He's (normally) a big strong boy....... this has floored him!

Example......... he had trouble opening a bottle of lemonade :-0

I might go to bed early, and read my book. Aaaaaaah.

OHh l see, had'nt realised you were in Aussie.
So get to bed early then and rest yourself, nice hot milky drink and a book, sometimes l do wordsearches, easier to concentrate.
So OH must be feeling poorly then. Lets just hope he behaves then??
When is the work going to start on your house?

My OH Vic is'nt his best either, mainly from cold, but now coughing and chesty, may end up at Docs too before he gets worse.

Take care

He's still coughing like a mad dog.

2nd jab this morning.

Got a 'phone call this morning from the man who dried out all the carpets; he wondered when he could come around, bring the carpet layer & clean the carpets.

I told him it would be a while yet, because we have only seen one tradesman. He was shocked! Said he felt sorry for us, living in this mess for weeks (since Easter). I told him I'm giving the building company another two weeks, then going to make a huge complaint to the insurance company. We know many local tradesman who could have done the job by now!

noises from tv room.......... WOOF WOOF WOOF WOOF
