Sue, I am so sorry the amputation has become necessary but if it helps your brother have less pain I suppose it will be the best outcome, will mean a lot of new problems for him tho sadly. I remember that white finger pain as I used to suffer from toes and fingers going white in winter when I was a child, it was awful and Mum would be massaging my digits trying to get the feeling back for me but causing pain at the same time.

Will be thinking of you all, hope the surgery will go well and he will feel more comfortable in many ways

as I type this my brother is waiting for emergency surgery to have his leg amputated above the knee,
all attempt's failed as his vein's kept collapsing,
he his in so much pain that I hope it will be a blessed relief for him.

not much more to say about it.

Saturday.

went to the hdu to see him today,he was in so much pain, the blood is staring to trickle through,he then said I felt a pop,so mum lifted up his sheet and he was covered in fresh blood.
I got his nurse and she took one look then suddenly there were lot's of medicic's there, they were pressing hard in his groin and whisked him away.
when they do the clot busting thing they go in through a main artery for him it was his femoral,he was bleeding from it.

2 hour's later he was back in hdu feeling a bit more comfortable, they say the pain he is getting is like when you get white finger's in the winter.
I sat feeding him melon as he has to stay flat on his back, mind you he keep's asking to be sat up,the staff are brilliant with him and keep reassuring him about what is going on.

Sue, I am sad it's come to this with your poor b.i.l.. I hope he will come through the treatment so there is no need for amputation and that meantime he is well looked after and kept calm. Poor chap is really going through it and you must all be so worried for him.

Will be thinking lots of positive thoughts

well,not good new's for him,

at the moment he is in the Norfolk & Norwich hospital,he got admitted from vascular clinic,he had ct scan last night and his vein's in his leg have partialy collapsed.
today he was put in the critical care unit to have clot busting drug's dripped into the artery in the hope his blood will flow again, not good new's if it does not,he will have to have a amputation.
we should know the outcome Tuesday as the clot busting drug has to continue for 3 day's.
to say he is confused is a under statement.

Sue, your poor brother, how confusing for him, and no doubt frustrating for you, it must take patience. I hope they can sort out some good pain relief for him, he can do without the pain on top of everything else. <3

Well done for thinking of such a great gift for your brother's birthday. I am glad he is enjoying looking at the details, it will stir many more memories I expect and give him lots of pleasure.

Keep up the good work, you are so lucky to have a close bond with your brother, long may it continue.

Well done Martyn and belated birthday wishes to your brother.

What a great idea for his present. I did something similar for my Dad,anything that stimulates memories is a good thing.

Well done Martyn, a perfect gift for him :-)

Another good on that helps stimulate memories are songs and photos from your childhood.

Mum used to love them, I photocopied pictures and photos and wrote the names of the places, people and pets underneath to help her remember who was who etc.
