Nolls......They found tins of stuff from WW2 and still edible....Usually anything sealed in a tin will last not quite forever but getting on....Hopefully you'll be here tomorrow to say hallo to us all....LES.

Really though I am more of a Shirley Temple cos she was the pick of the day still when I was named .

Lyndi of course me don't have the knees now that they are made of titanium lol! and John behave I have other names for OH just not printable here lol! and how glad I am that we are keeping up with Harold and Albert now that's made my day it's really in keeping with the family who call me Hyacinth :-P

I've tried one tin of salmon - seemed not too bad. Hubby would'nt touch it, but I'm still alive. I'll disguise some in fish cakes, and he'll never know. Haha! :-D :-D

Nolls. I just hope OH is OK. He will be the first to have symptoms, as you say. What an unusual name he has - Shirley. I can only think of a wrestler called Big Daddy whose name was Shirley. :-S ;-)

Six tins of salmon? now that's a hard one, think it improves with time!
Shirley OH had the job of clearing out the cupboard (I can't kneel down now) don't know why I asked him he can't see a thing! :-S

I'm not feeling very well. But think it is the heat and talk of fried haddock and tinned jam sponge. Reminds me of Harold and Albert's posh nosh in Oil Drum Lane :-) :-)

When clearing out my parents old flat, I found loads of really out of date tins, so we thought we'd try to use them up. Most seemed to be OK, but others smelled and tasted a bit "tinny". We couldn't bear to throw away half a dozen tins of red salmon with a use by date of 2007, so here's hoping! :-D

Tinned food from WW1 is sometimes opened and eaten, so doubt you will suffer. Only problem is a blown tin - then food can be exposed to air and also metal poisoning. But you would see and smell it was "wrong". I always think BB on tins is for the benefit of manufacturer - we throw it away and buy a new one, thus doubling their sales. :-)

Blimey thought too you where bowing out ! hate seeing "old" members deciding not to be on the boards anymore.

When we had a new kitchen in 2010 I had to do a BIG clear out of all the cupboards etc . Found loads of out of daters. Wasnt practical to save some of em but some tins I did save. I remembered as a kid tins didnt have sell by dates so you used whenever.

We did use some of out of daters later before any new tins and they were OK and no ill effects.
Am TRYING to be a good girl now and use things in order and not hoard even tho i didnt think I had.
