Hector lived at this address until he died. After that N A Rysart had the phone listed at this same address.

I've tried to trace N A Rysart with no luck

Thank you all for working so hard for me,I now know a little more than before, the thing that I most wish is to find out just who my grandmother was.

I have traced two or three lines of dads family as far back as 1600,but have had no luck with her, perhaps I will have to wait till we meet on the other side!!.

Well I am stuck for now.

IDEAS
Message Victor who visits the Gloucester archive and has a thread on here.
Follow them backwards in small steps.
Wait for new records to come on line.
Find Someone who knows more about adoption. I think Penny has an adoption thread.
I started a sort of timeline chart on Excel adding what we know about each of them I will pm you with it. It is up to you if you choose to use it. It just helped me to get my head around them.

Hi LadyKira,I also have not been able to find any trace of junior, but remember him visiting us when I was about four or so,he seemed very grown up to me but is only eight years my senior.

Since my parents parted company in about 1970 mum has lived a chaotic life, flitting from flat to flat,a brief marriage and a couple of 'relationships'. I never really felt that I could ask personal questions as we didn't get on very well, and she is now with her maker. Personally,I thought that she was as nutty as a fruitcake, but that is a different story!!

LadyKira

LadyKira Report 7 Jul 2013 20:44

I have found no trace of Hector Valentine Charles Rysart after the school record, Did he change his name? And yet your mother was in contact?

Annina

Annina Report 4 Jul 2013 15:57

You are correct Lady Kira, both juniors parents were present at his birth registration.

After that I can only go on my mothers tales. Apparently.the father was no longer in the picture,at least as far as mother was concerned. As I said before, she was left parentless ans pennyless and had to scratch a living for herself. It was during the worst of the blitz in Bristol, when, presumably, records and people dissappeared.

You are also correct in that theatre people move around a lot,mum was always telling me that she never lived long in one address or school, although always in Bristol. Her mother presumably, left her with sitters if she had to travel far.

He was registered under both names

Hi Anina
I have been out for the day..

It is still bugging me.
Junior is registered with his fathers name and is registered by his father at birth, That does sound like his father took an interest in and acknowledged his son.

There is some confusing geography here but I wonder if that is just down to the theatre company touring?

Annina

Annina Report 3 Jul 2013 14:51

Hi Tenerife Sun,you are correct about my mother being very young when orphaned, she had no family in touch so had to lie about her age to get work.Remember this was during the worst of the war so a shoetage of labour. I know that she had a number of jobs from aircraft factories to hotel catering.

Later on she trained to be a nurse with the Alexanders and worked with Sir Alec Macenroe,sp? with badly burned men, mostly pilots who had been shot down.

All other questions that have been asked I can't answer as you all know as much as I. It was the liniage of my grandmother that I was really interested and have only found a huge brick wall, indeed, got so fed up with banging my head on it that I lost interest in geneology and gave up all my search sites except this one.

Well,I have spent another half day on here and must go and get some work done, will check in later.

On Hcv Rysarts death cert the informant was an A Rysart, widow of the deceased,so not his daughter.

Tenerife Sun

Tenerife Sun Report 3 Jul 2013 13:42

ANNINA ...

Hector V C Rysart started scholl 09/09/1947 at Winterbourne St Michaels Church of England Mixed Infants School his address was given (as were several other childrens) as Downend Cottage Home, there is some info on the internet re Downend. Hector left there on 20/05/1949 to go to a special school. Presumably he was in Downend after the death of his mother.

The above in from entry 483 www.frenchaymuseumarchives.co.uk/.../St_Michaels_Register_1932.rtf?

I wonder where your mother was when her mother died as she would have only been about 14 years old

If you think you might need more help do you think you could start another thread on your family as this thread is becoming confusing with three different requests on it
