"Polly", welcome. As Emma says anyone can contribute. We are a mixed group from all over the World.

I am from Edinburgh but now live in the North East of England. I was up in the Highlands last month -Aviemore, Cairngorms and Inverness and all points in between.

Enjoy.

Just wondering..... autumn is really showing it's face in my neck of the woods.
The colours are changing rapidly . Trees and foliage are looking stunning!

Polly,
Which School did you go to in Edinburgh?

Potty Report 20 Sep 2013 13:05

Just back from a trip up the West Coast as far as Kinlochbervie, via Loch Lomond and Braemar (for the Gathering). Don't know where all the Scots were there, seemed mostly to be Americans, Germans, Japanese, etc!

Found the Gathering a bit confusing. Everything in the arena going on at the same time - dancing, caber tossing, hammer throwing, races, tug-of-war, pipe bands all at the same time in different areas of the arena but all very enjoyable but not a Scotch pie in sight!

Robert

Robert Report 20 Sep 2013 13:12

I don't mind the Foreigners visiting Scotland and spending their money there. It is good for the Scottish economy!!

Pity about the Scotch pie.

You are right Robert.

I did the research on my own family

Last time that two of my SCOTTISH direct ancestors entered into a marriage was in 1815.
Their son, my gg grandfather was 100% Scottish, but he took an Irish wife.... so did his son. ( 50% Scottish)... .and his grandaughter. (25% Scottish)... and then my Dad (12.5% Scottish)

As my mum was 100% Irish, that makes me 6.25% Scottish and 93.75% IRISH!

Robert

Robert Report 20 Sep 2013 20:23

Yes GlasgowLass, but the 6.25% will be real quality.
