The correct way to wear your poppy.................

me neither - no way would I like to ridiculed for wearing my poppy incorrectly :-S

Apparently the poppy is viewed as a clock.............and the leaf is supposed to point to 11 oclock

I always supported and wore MY Poppy with pride and for the remembrance of those that gave us their lives and sacrifices,

As a child, I was told a little story about the origins on the Red Poppy., highly unlikely to be true

The poppys which grew in Flanders used to be white. Because of the spilled blood, the next time they grew they were red.

What ever the origins of this 'myth' it makes you think

Well I never knew that - which way the leaf points I mean,

I always remove the leaf,

Their is not a right or wrong way to wear your poppy,

That's interesting Bob, but far more important is we remember why it is worn, and it's worn with pride.




My fourteen year old Granddaughter is an army cadet and she will be laying her squadron wreath at the Cenotaph on Sunday. It is a joy to see her Facebook page supporting our serving troops, and also recognising the fallen.

EDIT.. I spotted a a mistake :-|

Also up until a few years ago no poppies had the leaf.

The Royal British Legion say there is no hard and fast rule as to the wearing of the poppy.

But popular culture has adopted the 11 o/c leaf, which I think is a good gesture.

For several years now people have been debating poppy etiquette in the media

Lots of so called experts have between them created several myths and thats all they are myths,

The only thing that confuses me is men appear to
wear it on the left and women on the right. I've always
worn mine on the left, am I wrong?
