For tradesmen etc. Don't you hate it?

"They will fit your carpets on the morning of the 18th" he said.

Still waiting for them to arrive.

Phoned at 10.15. "Be there at eleven" he said.

No they are not!!!

Hardly going to be morning is it?

Can't do anythinga s the house is in chaos so shall go and wrap Christmas presents. :-)

Andrew Report 18 Nov 2013 11:28

I have to wait in tomorrow for a new freezer to arrive. Time is 7am to 7pm!! Could have had a narrower slot, but not at £20.

well the man turned up to fit my new boiler at 7:45 this morning - brilliant - he's not stopped working since he arrived and I should have my heating back before long :-D

George Report 18 Nov 2013 11:40

Don't forget ladies. Your probably not the only customers they have to see. Someone has to be first and last. Also you never know what problems may turn up at their last job that may cause them to be late.
Have a little patients and carry on playing on your computer :-D

Don't be patronising George. And Andrew is not a lady (well I don't think he is). I am aware of previous jobs but this has been booked ages and morning is not after 12 is it? It comes down to somebody underestimating a job I think.

ann, pleased that you will have heating as it is supposed to be getting colder.

Getting your heating just in time Ann - cold weather on the way.

No Phone for a week, said they call 18th between 8a.m. & 1p.m. At 8.15 this morning he arrived. Tester not working so called up a colleague to assist. One hour later colleague arrived. Found the fault and had to go up the pole. Both left at 11.30 a.m. So it's not always easy for them to keep to a schedule.

AnninGlos Report 18 Nov 2013 12:17

No I realise that but if they had just said the date and not morning it wouldn't have been so bad. telling us 'morning' insinuates that they didn't have another job, or only a small job so I am not impressed. They have hall, stairs, landing and bedroom to do when they do get here so it is not a small (or cheap) job as it is the shop we also bought the carpets from, not independent fitters.

George

George Report 18 Nov 2013 12:20

AnninGlos.
Not being patronising at all. Most appointments are made by office staff who have no experience of actually doing whatever job. Anything can cause a delay on getting to the next job.
And who is Andrew?.

AnninGlos Report 18 Nov 2013 12:23

Andrew posted on here before your post George. He posted at 11.28. And the booking was made by the shop owner (local shop) who also measured for the carpets and who organises the fitters. It was patronising because you said 'ladies'. :-)

George

George Report 18 Nov 2013 12:29

Perhaps he should have signed off as Andrew and I would have known it was a man posting,
The post was by AnninGlos who I took to be a lady

AnninGlos Report 18 Nov 2013 15:50

When the young man arrived at 12.30 he did apologise and said at the previous call he'd had to shift all the furniture. Now 3.50 and he can't be far off finishing I hope.

I find that most services are not taken as seriously as they used to be.I have had a whole summer and Autumn of it.
Everyone has mobile phones these days ,so it should be easier to let customers know.
Had issues with Everest from April till Oct...not for windows but remote garage door and drive...a series of mistakes from beginning to end..so much hassle and phone calls and letters which kept me from doing other things.
Had the opposite last week....firm booked to come Tues morning to fit safety rails up my steps to garage...opened curtains last Mon at 8.45 to find their van outside waiting to see some movement....good job I hadn't made plans for the day!

Just a simple call and you know where you are!!

He finally finished just after 6, we found out he is not normally on his own, don't know why he was today but he did an excellent job. And he also helped OH to put the bed and mattress back. Bed made up, everything else can wait until tomorrow.
