I didn't renew on the 29th April and have received 3 e-mails from them since then. The third one was 3 days ago telling me I would still receive 10% discount if I renew my subscription.

What is the point of feedback if they don't want to hear it? It seems they want people to tell them how wonderful they are. But that's obviously not going to happen.
My subscription ran out 2 days ago. I don't see the point of going back.

Whatever the 'order' were, FMP have now completely removed all those tips and complaints from the 'Improve...........' idea.

Shot themselves in the other foot now, methinks!

Island

Island Report 28 Apr 2014 10:22

I think the bomb fodder may have had orders from above on that score.

'Spam' my h'arse!

Wend Report 28 Apr 2014 10:05

I think you're right namelessone. As my subs is due tomorrow, I tried to post on their Feedback forum yesterday that I wouldn't be renewing because I consider their site to be no longer fit for purpose and a waste of money. It was rejected :-|

Having been found to be deleting messages from Facebook, FMP have suddenly taken to 'Moderating' their own Feedback forum.

Does this mean they no longer want to hear 'Home truths'?

I quite agree Island they have broken the the 1911 address search and a lot more too. Why can't I find things that I found before all the changes? I think I just wasted my birthday prezzie money when I renewed and upgraded :-( :-(

Island

Island Report 25 Apr 2014 16:23

They broke the 1911 address search TS.

I can't for the life of me think why these arrogant so and so's think they are improving the site it's a total c0ck up - like the GR tree - but they just won't admit it.

Tenerife Sun Report 24 Apr 2014 09:37

I don't use FMP much at all now I have kind of found my way around but it just takes toooo long for me. I also can't find something that I have found before in in the old version. I attempted a 1911 address search which, either I'm doing wrong or, it's almost an impossibility.

I do use the Newspaper search as Ancestry hasn't got anything that matches this so I'm prepared to wait for any results there.

Wend, I'm not sure if they send a reminder if auto renew isn't ticked. I have it ticked and got a 30 day warning - twice, a week apart :-S. Then they told me card details were incorrect (how am I supposed to know the number changes when card expires and is reissued? Tsk)
Then I got the begging letter because I was late in renewing :-D and I still got my loyalty discount.
Oh how I regret not signing up to Ancestry instead :-| :-| :-|

Wend

Wend Report 23 Apr 2014 18:39

No, it shouldn't Island and I can't be bothered anymore. I'm worried that my subs is due on the 29th and I haven't received a reminder. I have checked and 'auto-renew' on my account is not ticked.

I keep trying to fathom the new site but, really, should it be such a chore?

Has anyone had any luck yet?

Well I have lost the will to live through FMP.

I have been looking at the 1851 census for a certain surname and it has taken about an hour to get the image.

Going to stop using FMP altogether until my subs run out in 6 months time.

The only thing which has improved (slightly) is the newspaper search, I actually prefer the new way of drilling down through dates.

The rest of it is garbage, won't renew my sub as they've taken away the features that were the best things about it, e.g. the census transcription format, the address search, can't search by marriage date, etc etc.

Wonder how long it will be before GR and FMP merge into one site?

Not really played with it much since the change over, but have managed to find everything I have looked for so far.

Not sure if it has been mentioned....but why are they transcribing the census households in alphabetical order? just looked at my gt grandparents in 1911 and my gran who was the youngest in the family is showing at the top as her name began with a 'B'

Von

Von Report 18 Apr 2014 19:27

Island
In answer to your question I have managed to look at census images.
In fact I look at images first as that way you can see the whole family.
The transcription only relates to each member separately.
Is it my imagination but have a couple of things reverted to how they were before ie the drop down menu on "search records" :-S :-S :-S
