Fly <3 in respect of your Dad's difficulties in getting up from sitting, I was doing to post this yesterday but before I could post it the site went belly up - one of my neighbours had great difficulty getting up when she was sitting, her OT suggested to her daughter that they try, what is called a Riser Recliner armchair plus a zimmer frame, the seat of the chair rises and tilts forward and she then stands up using the zimmer frame to steady and support her - since she got these she manages to stand up without falling.

OneFoot a rising chair would be no good for dad he would fall :-( he does not have much balance and cannot walk on his own <3

Belle the OT is ordering a blow up :-0 cushion ;-) to try when he falls it is 4 cushions in one and you inflate one at a time to the required height it will lift him back up to chair height :-) so hope it works <3

I've heard about your post 09:37 OFITG. You put the zimmer in front of the rising chair for the person to hang on to. The chair slowly rises till the person is standing upright then you can manoeuvre them into their wheelchair. The alternative is that you stand in front of the person while the chair rises with them hanging on to you for support until they are upright and then manoeuvre them into their wheelchair which saves trying to physically lift someone from a sitting position this helped for my dear mum who suffered severe disablement from a stroke <3 <3

My Nan has one of these....we bought it for her when she lived at home, we then moved it to when she went into care, have to say its been fantastic, she also loves
reclining in it and having a snooze, or reading <3 <3

LondonBelle

LondonBelle Report 20 Jan 2015 10:16

That's a shame, Fly cos it can help take away some of the physical demands from the carer too :-( <3

We've just had a snow flurry :-0 :-0

Off to get on with me chores :-(

Hope doggydoddles can cheer Flossy up <3
