That is very true Rambling Rose. With a lot of help from someone I found my adopted brother and sister (twins). They didn't want contact, and while I am pleased that I know they stayed together and have had happy lives, I also feel sad and guilty that I have unsettled them and their security. Through the intermediary that contacted them I have assured them that I will never seek further contact, but they can't 'unknow' that I found them. :-(

Always difficult in this sort of situation, you want to help the searcher but not to intrude on the privacy of those being sought.

Exactly why I suggested trying it at 12.07 yesterday.

I had simply wanted to guide the poster because I had no idea what the family situation was or who the poster was then.

The thread was 'Searching for a close friend' yet the poster began 'We are looking for our estranged grandchildren'. It made me wonder .....

Sorry folks, I am ever the 'doubting Thomas' my Dad used to call me. :-)

Try a email/letter or call to the Local Wirral News/Wirral Globe if you know all the children were adopted together someone may recognise them by the first names, school friends may recall a sibling group,as they are close together in age. neighbours etc.

The paper does have a letters page and is delivered free to most homes on the Wirral.

Also try Wiki Wirral.co.uk you have to register free, then can post details.

Choccy, just to clarify, that's not the young man in the wedding photo is it? That's the one I discounted, his father and mother both on friends list/

Assuming the surname has been changed by adoption, then there is no way you can discover it by yourselves.

If other family members don't know what became of them, the only solution is to tell the grandparents to contact Social Services and ask for them to help.

Grandparents names ; Rita and Stuart Way
Dad name: Christopher Way

Sarah Bowers was the Mother of the children and she passed away few years ago..
Her mother Angie also.
The Children were taken by social services from their mother.

Are the grandparents seeking the children the father or mother's parents?
Would the other grandparents perhaps know more or still have some contact?

If not already done, put the birth parent's name/s on a tree here so that if the children look they can make contact.

JoyLouise There is a Jake Bowers on FB that matches the details you found on electoral roll, he does have some of the right first names in his friends list, but there are birthday wishes on their which do not match the birth qtr. So I think discount that one.

edit he's a different birth year also, mother and father on friends list.

JoyLouise Report 2 Jul 2016 13:59

Ale, they are older now and one or more may have reverted to the Bowers surname.

Unless, of course, you have another Jake Bowers and a Rachel Bowers in the family in the Macclesfield area?

The Rachel I mentioned above was living at the same address in 2014-2016 as a man with the same surname but if you read to the bottom you'll see that a Rachel Bowers was living at the same address in previous years. I thought she may have adopted the new surname as the guy there or married him.

ale Report 2 Jul 2016 13:50

Way is the children's dad surname, Bowers was the children's Mother surname.
After they were adopted by a couple on the Wirral area, They change their surname, but not their Christian names..

What we are trying to find out is their adopted surname.
Jake Christopher ? - 1993
Natalie Louise ? - 1995
Chloe Rachel ?- 1996
Rachel Sarah ? - 1997

JoyLouise Report 2 Jul 2016 13:01

Try the same with Rachel Bowers.

It'll give you a different surname but read down to the bottom.

I didn't try the Way alternative because I figured that if their mother had died and they had been adopted while their Dad was still alive, the children might have decided to go with Bowers (the mother's surname).

Good luck with the electoral rolls.
