At least 60 people are feared dead and more than 100 injured after a lorry drove into a crowd in a suspected terror attack during Bastille Day celebrations in Nice. Gunshots rang out in the streets, with gunmen targeting hotels and cafes in the port city as residents were warned to lock themselves indoors. Hostages have been taken in a hotel in the city. The RAID anti-terror squad has been deployed to the city. It is believed the gunmen are holding hostages in the Meridien Hotel and the Buffalo Grill restaurant. WARNING: GRAPHIC CONTENT

Unfortunately, atrocities are still part of everyday life in many countries.

Here in the UK, we have the other side of life as experienced by the public on a day-to-day basis: the shootings, stabbings, muggings, suicides, poverty, depression, robberies, fear, repossessions, bankruptcies, homelessness & bullying.

Mrs May & her Ministers have much to do.

Rollo - Sorry to hear that someone know to the extended family has been caught up in the attack. Hope your 'niece' was well away from the tragedy even though she may well be devastated by what has happened to her friend.

One senseless death can effect dozens of people; this number must reach to hundreds of people who knew or were related to them

Such clarity of information, Rollo. Thank you.

May you and yours stay safe.

I have always thought that cowardly acts like this make one feel both angry and sad at the same time.

This article in English pretty well sums up how the French feel today. A lot are weeping, even more are boiling mad as you suggest.
