That bloody committee is giving me so much grief that I am thinking that, as I am being sponsored to have a bald head and not for the act of having it shaved, I might just go and get it done and then there will be nothing left to worry about.

I thought it was your cheque yesterday when I opened the letter from the committee woman about the bacon.

My priority is to raise as much money as I can, not keep to rules or please a committee.

I assumed that my head would be shaved at the end of the coffee morning as it is only one room ad i wouldn't want to mix hair and buttercream.

After this we intend (still) to serve sandwiches made with the donated bacon to anybody who might want one.

I am having to think of contingency plans so as not to let anybody down. If the worst comes to fruition i will have to have it shaved at my hairdressers. Rest assured, it will be done, even if the great and the good think it necessary to sabotage it.

If its not too late, or when you next speak to her, reassure her that you or the buttie eaters will be responsible for cooking the bacon and clearing up.

I have had a letter from the lady with the committee saying I am not to do bacon sandwiches so I have written back saying that my event will be seperate and that I think raising as much money as possible is more important than keeping to the rules.

She is a dear, sweet, lovely old lady and she has run more committees than I could count but she has never eaten a bacon sandwich and I doubt she has even met many people who have.

I just want to make as much as I can, utilize the bacon that has been donated for the purpose and get money out of those who would not go to a coffee morning.

With a bit of luck I won't be the only shaved head there!

The preceding coffee morning is being organized by the usual ladies of the village and they are not very sure about the bacon butties so I have been explaining to them that, just as they have never been to a darts match and would probably not contemplate going to one, there are those who would not contemplate going to a coffee morning.

Naturally, one of the ladies had been to a darts match. The WI where she used to live had organized one!
