Yes, I remember Aberfan - that was certainly not a CLASP built school, it was a sturdy Victorian school, and (if you remember) it didn't catch fire - nothing could have withstood the deluge it suffered, so, again, irrelevant to the subject of schools catching fire or CLASP built buildings, and no, I'm not really interested in how various building techniques would have fared in similar circumstances, but if looking up articles on CLASP buildings, rocks your boat......... :-S

Some people are obtuse some just do it to annoy.

What the village school at Aberfan was built out of is of no account.
In the context of potential fires in CLASP schools what matters was the political reaction to the deaths of over a hundred children as the coal tip engulfed the school.

The danger of these tips had been highlighted again and again but the Govt / coal board refused to remove the most dangerous tips on ground of cost. After Aberfan finding the money was possible.

Will it take another Aberfan for CLASP schools to be taken out of use ?

Get it ?

Potential fires?
There are 'potential' dangers in many everyday situations. Using a tumble drier, for example.
I think you'll find the building trade and local councils are well aware of the problems with CLASP buildings, and are constantly pointing out their failings.

Government money is needed, and, as these type of buildings tend to involve the 'common' man, it won't be found, much like Aberfan.

Not sure a 'discussion' about their failings on here will change much.

But, like I said, whatever rocks your boat....
